Gogglebox star Tim Lai bands together with TV pals for Euphoria Social Gala & People’s Choice Awards

This year’s Euphoria Social Gala & People’s Choice Awards will be officially hosted by beloved Gogglebox personality Tim Lai, who will be joined on stage by an incredible lineup of special guests and familiar television faces.

The Euphoria Social Gala & People’s Choice Awards is a vital, community-led celebration recognizing LGBTQIAPN+ individuals across Victoria who hold their communities together. The annual event honours those who do the groundwork—often quietly and without recognition—including grassroots organisers, volunteers, artists, advocates, and inclusive organisations.

As Tim courageously continues his ongoing cancer treatment, close friends and stars from Gogglebox, Travel Guides, and mainstream networks will step in to share hosting duties. For Tim, leading the prestigious evening alongside his inner circle is both a profound privilege and an initiative deeply close to his heart.

"I’m so grateful that my fellow Gogglebox co-stars Matt and Kate Dalton will be right beside me on the night to help recognise those who work so selflessly to support Victoria's LGBTQIAPN+ communities," Tim said.

"I’m also excited to share that my friends Matt and Brett from Travel Guides are flying down from Newcastle to help with hosting duties. Joining us as well will be Channel 9 reporter Allan Raskall and TV and radio personality Sarah Jane Roza.

"While my treatment is thankfully progressing well, a major gala event is a massive undertaking physically. I’m incredibly grateful to have my friends sharing the load, and I am so excited for them to connect with the beautiful LGBTQIAPN+ community at such a special event."

In late 2025, Tim was initially diagnosed with a benign brain tumor, before doctors later discovered a malignant tumor in his adrenal gland. While bravely navigating his treatment, Tim has received an outpouring of love from his husband Mark, his sister and Gogglebox co-star Leanne, her partner Brody, and a tight-knit circle of family and friends.

"The incredible wave of support I’ve experienced from fans and the public has been a massive pillar of strength for me on this journey," Tim said.

"For those who have personally reached out or related to what I’ve been going through, it has meant the world. I’m proud of maintaining a positive, determined outlook, which has truly helped me navigate this challenging chapter."

The 2026 Euphoria Social Gala & People’s Choice Awards will take place on Saturday 13 June at The Auditorium in Fitzroy. Highlighting the growing scale and necessity of the event, this year's gala features a record 127 finalists across 11 distinct categories.

In a heartwarming addition to his hosting duties, Tim Lai has also been named a finalist in the Euphoria Social Family Award category.
