WHEN: Monday, 22 June 2026
TIME: 3:30 for 3:45pm
WHERE: Front Gate, Wambo Mine Complex, Warkworth

The Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) President, Michele O'Neil, will visit locked out workers at the Wambo Washery on Monday afternoon.

Michele O'Neil will meet with workers affected by the lockout and will address media alongside representatives from the Mining and Energy Union.

The visit comes as 19 workers remain locked out by Peabody Energy during enterprise bargaining negotiations.

Media will have the opportunity to hear from Michele O'Neil regarding the broader implications of Australia's industrial relations laws that allow employers to lock out workers during protected industrial action.

The ACTU has previously called for Australia's lockout laws to be reviewed so employers cannot unilaterally shut workers out of their workplaces while they are exercising lawful bargaining rights.
