Memory Walk & Jog Brisbane just weeks away!

Dementia Australia 3 mins read

The 2026 Brisbane Memory Walk & Jog is only a few short weeks away, with the event taking place on Sunday 14 June at Brisbane’s Rocks Riverside Park.

Memory Walk & Jog returns to Brisbane in 2026, bringing the community together to get active for brain health and to show support for people impacted by dementia.

Memory Walk & Jog Brisbane is a key Dementia Australia community event, helping raise funds to deliver invaluable support, education and resources for people living with dementia, their families and carers.

Memory Walk & Jog is about being part of the community and feeling supported. Participants can walk, jog or run and select from either 2.5km, 5km or 10km in distance.

Local Brisbane resident Renee Allan said she is participating in Memory Walk & Jog to honour her Mum’s memory and raise awareness of dementia.

“My family and I are taking part in the Memory Walk & Jog in memory of my Mum and to help shine a light on the impact dementia has on families,” Renee said.

“My Mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and watching her gradually lose her memories and independence was heartbreaking. Her journey and the loss of my Mum have left a lasting impact on our family.

“I’m participating to honour her memory, raise awareness about dementia and support the work Dementia Australia does for people and families impacted by the disease.”

Renee said she is looking forward to being part of a supportive community on the day.

“What I’m most looking forward to is being part of a community who understands the journey and sharing the day with my children, helping them learn about their grandma’s journey, and teaching them the importance of raising awareness and supporting others impacted by dementia.”

Memory Walk & Jog is an opportunity to highlight the role that physical activity and social connection can play in supporting brain health. While age, genetic and family history cannot be changed, evidence shows that staying active and engaged can help reduce or delay the risk of developing dementia.

AI and automation could reshape the future of IVF, study finds

A major international review published in Nature Reviews Bioengineering outlines how artificial intelligence (AI) and automation could improve IVF and reshape assisted reproductive care. The review provides a balanced and timely perspective on how microscale engineering and AI tools are beginning to change key steps in the IVF process, including sperm preparation, oocyte handling, embryo selection and cryopreservation. The review was led by PhD student Jennifer Lorimer from the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Monash University, under the supervision of Associate Professor Reza Nosrati, who has pioneered microfluidic and AI-based technologies for fertility and assisted reproduction. The work…
