Building a President’s Club Business
Jag shares, “Joining the President’s Club means a lot to us as it really reflects the hard work that the whole team has put in to really help the business grow. It shows that our efforts to maintain outstanding product quality and develop strong relationships with our customers have helped us be recognised as a high-performing location. This award is a testament to the high levels of service, quick turnaround times, and quality we are proud that our team has helped us deliver.”
Jag shares the following keys to growth and success:
- “Having a strong, experienced and friendly team that has kept our customers coming back
- Constantly looking for new products that our customers can use to promote their businesses
- Engaging with local businesses to develop strong working relationships and build their trust”
As for marketing the business, Jag adds:
- “Investing in the Internet Marketing Programme helps us to get new leads. We also price accurately to secure new customers
- Email blasts, mailout campaigns, and constant conversations with our customers to see what new projects they have going on

Business Background & Community Relationships
Prior to Minuteman Press, Jag and Durga owned other businesses and were looking for a new opportunity. They were new to the printing industry, so training and support was a huge factor in their decision to buy the business. Jag reflects, “Having operated other businesses in the past, Minuteman Press was a great opportunity for my wife Durga and I to work together. Minuteman Press is a reputable franchise, with great feedback and support from the regional team and MPIHQ. Although we had never worked in the printing industry before, we were ready to take on this challenge with the support from the wider team and have never looked back since.”
Jag continues, “The Minuteman Press FLEX software has been an amazing tool that has been provided to us in this franchise. It helps us to put together quotes quickly so we can respond to customers faster, which we strongly believe is the key to winning jobs. It also gives us a breakdown of material costs and labour costs, which in turn helps us to understand our costs and maintain our profits allowing us to stay sustainable in our business. On top of that, FLEX is a great organizational tool to ensure all jobs are tracked and completed in a timely manner to keep our customers happy and to meet our deadlines.”
During their six years in business, their focus on community has been one of the biggest drivers of growth for Jag and Durga. Jag says, “Our business community is supportive and welcoming. Other franchisees and our suppliers are always ready to help address our questions and help us learn. Our customer base also forms a large part of our business community. Keeping in touch with them regularly and being aware of their upcoming projects comes from our daily involvement and interactions in the community.”
This strong connection to community and desire to meet the needs of local businesses is further reflected in Jag’s comments about the rewards of being a business owner. He shares, “One of the biggest rewards is being able to deeply connect with the community. Understanding the work other businesses do, helping them grow, and working on new and interesting projects every single day has made this journey really rewarding. On top of this, we have been supported by a truly great team that has worked side-by-side with us to make this business what it is, and for this we are truly grateful.”
Advice for Others
Jag concludes with the following advice as he reflects on the team’s six-year journey to the President’s Club: “As someone who has operated several businesses in the past, it is important for the owner/operator to work on the business. It is easy to get distracted with the day-to-day production, but looking at the bigger picture is important for growth.”
