Kensington, NSW, (Friday June 5)the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) welcomes thousands of aspiring performers and creatives to its Open Day on Saturday 13 June, offering a behind-the-scenes look at Australia’s leading performing arts educator and to meet our world-renowned alumni. 

“Our Open Day is about inspiring the next generation of storytellers and creatives,” said NIDA CEO Liz Hughes, “We want visitors to experience the excitement, innovation and passion that defines life at NIDA and to see the diverse opportunities available for a career in the creative sector.” 

Attendees will get to meet and hear directly from alumni as they discuss their NIDA training, pivotal moments and the twists and turns of their careers including screen actor Thomas Cocquerel (All Her Fault, The Gilded Age), actor/writer Matthew Whittet (Moulin Rouge, Caper Crew), costume designer Gypsy Taylor (The Newsreader, All Her Fault), and props maker Grace McCann (Street Fighter, Vivid Sydney) among others. 

NIDA’s Open Day will provide detailed course information outlining application processes, audition requirements, scholarships, industry placements and career pathways for graduates.   

Visitors can tour NIDA’s theatres, rehearsal spaces and production workshops, showcasing the breadth of disciplines taught at NIDA, from acting, directing, and writing to set construction, props, costume and set design, costume making, specialist hair and make-up and technical production.  

Held on campus in Kensington and live streamed online, the event will attract over 2,000 prospective students and families eager to explore NIDA’s globally recognised training programs.
