Public Inquiry into AUKUS WA hearings today!

Linda Reynolds giving evidence, Peter Garrett doorstop this morning

 

Former WA Premier Carmen Lawrence will join Peter Garrett and other AUKUS Inquiry Commissioners today in Fremantle, for the WA hearings of the Public Inquiry into AUKUS.

 

A range of speakers are confirmed to give evidence this morning, including former federal Defence Minister Linda Reynolds, the former Head of the Force Development and Analysis Division at the Department of Defence, Dr Mike Gilligan and former head of public health in Perth Dr Colin Hughes. 

 

The afternoon session will include evidence from experts from Global Nuclear Security Partners and The Conservation Council, amongst many others.

 

The Public Inquiry into AUKUS is taking submissions from the public and subject matter experts and holding public hearings in most capital cities.

 

WHAT: The WA hearing of the Public Inquiry into AUKUS

WHERE: The University of Notre Dame (Building ND46/209 Lecture Theatre)
Building ND46 on the corner of Phillimore St and Henry St, Fremantle

WHEN: Today Monday 29 June 10am-8:30PM (evening session this evening to allow members of the public to attend after work).

NOTE: Doorstop interview opportunity with Peter Garrett and AUKUS Commissioners 9:45am this morning, before proceedings commence.

WHY: There has never been a more critical time to interrogate the $368 billion deal that is known as AUKUS. This nation-wide inquiry is seeking answers to critical questions, and equally importantly, hoping to find other options and potentially an off-ramp.
