Thousands of kilometres, countless breakdowns and millions raised for Cancer Council culminate at the Shitbox Rally 2026 Autumn finish line.

After more than 3,500 kilometres of outback roads, river crossings, dust and determination, more than 190 teams will arrive in Melbourne to complete Shitbox Rally 2026 Autumn, celebrating another remarkable fundraising effort for Cancer Research.

The convoy of cars worth no more than $1,500 will roll into the city after seven unforgettable days on the road from Port Douglas, having overcome mechanical mishaps, changing conditions and long days—all in support of Australians affected by cancer.

Every team raises a minimum of $5,000, with 100 per cent of donations going directly to Cancer Council to fund cancer research. Many teams exceed this target, driven by personal stories and a shared commitment to making a difference.

“The finish line is incredibly emotional,” said Founder and CEO James Freeman. “Every team has a story—whether it’s overcoming constant breakdowns, honouring a loved one, or achieving something they never thought possible. Watching hundreds of teams cross the finish line after a week together is a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when people unite behind a common cause.”

The arrival in Melbourne marks the end of an extraordinary adventure, but not the end of the fundraising effort. Many teams continue to raise funds after the rally, while the event’s iconic vehicles will take centre stage at the traditional post-rally auction, generating even more support for Cancer Research.

The finish line will deliver a spectacular visual celebration, with hundreds of creatively decorated vehicles arriving after a week on the road. Behind every dented panel and dust-covered windscreen is a story of resilience, friendship and determination.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend, cheer the teams arrival and celebrate the incredible efforts of participants who have travelled from across Australia for a cause that touches almost every family.
