OBERON'S BULL RIDING BOYS SET TO FLY THE FLAG IN PBR ORIGIN SHOWDOWN
Rowlandson and Bailey ready to take centre stage as hometown heroes ride into Sydney
With a population of just 3,000, Oberon continues to produce some of Australia's toughest cowboys, and this weekend two of its own will ride for NSW in the nation's toughest State of Origin. The town will once again be front and centre on Australian bull riding's biggest stage this weekend, with local stars Jack Rowlandson and Charlie Bailey preparing to compete in the final round of the PBR Australia Monster Energy Origin Series in Sydney. The pair, who have helped cement Oberon's reputation as one of Australia's great rodeo towns both on and off the dirt, will ride for the New South Wales Blues when more than 350 tonnes of dirt transform Sydney's TikTok Entertainment Centre into a world-class bull riding arena on Saturday night.
While Queensland has already secured the 2026 Origin Series after victories in Newcastle and Brisbane, the Blues will be chasing redemption in front of a home crowd, with pride, state bragging rights and one final win still very much on the line.
For Oberon, it's another reminder that one small Central West community continues to produce some of the country's toughest and most respected cowboys.
Rowlandson, President of the Oberon Rodeo Association, has become one of Australian bull riding's most consistent performers, while Bailey, the Association's Vice President, continues to build his reputation both inside and outside the arena as one of the sport's emerging stars. Together, the pair have played a major role in growing the Oberon Rodeo and inspiring the next generation of riders across the region.
The duo's passion for rodeo extends well beyond competition. Both volunteer countless hours helping stage the annual Oberon Rodeo, with Bailey once describing bucking bulls as "like big puppy dogs".
Now, the hometown heroes will once again pull on the Blues jersey, carrying not only the hopes of New South Wales, but the pride of Oberon.

PBR Australia General Manager Glen Young said while the trophy had already crossed the border back to Queensland, Origin pride was far from settled.
"There's nothing quite like Origin. Queensland has earned the trophy back, but I can guarantee New South Wales won't be rolling over in Sydney. They'll be desperate to finish the series with a win in front of their home crowd, while Queensland will be equally determined to make history with a clean sweep. That's what makes this competition so special, every ride matters."

Before the big guns buck it out, the next generation of bull riding stars will take the spotlights at Sydney's TikTok Entertainment Centre arena, with teams of four selected from the 2025 PBR Australia Can-Am Junior Academy. Aged between nine and 17, these rising stars will go head-to-head in one of the fiercest rivalries in Australian sport, just on a smaller, but no less determined, scale.
