1 July 2026: Woolworths and the Royal Australian Mint are celebrating the 2026 Australian Commonwealth Games team by releasing three limited-edition collectible coins.

From Wednesday 15 July, Woolworths customers paying in cash will be able to collect the exclusive $2 coins in their change. New coin designs will be landing in cash tills each week across a three-week period.

Designed by the Royal Australian Mint, the coins feature unique illustrations celebrating the dedication of Aussie athletes. The weekly release schedule includes:

  • Week one (from 15 July): Gymnastics

  • Week two (from 22 July): 3x3 Wheelchair Basketball

  • Week three (from 29 July): Athletics

Sarah De La Mare, Head of Community and Sponsorships at Woolworths, said: "We’ve got a long history of backing Aussie sport, whether that’s fuelling local grassroots clubs in our communities or supporting our elite athletes on the world stage. Being the official Fresh Food Partner of the 2026 Commonwealth Games is all about keeping that momentum going and helping the Aussie team perform at their best.

“Teaming up with the Royal Australian Mint for these coins is a really fun way to bring that green and gold excitement into local stores, giving shoppers a little piece of history as we cheer our athletes on."

Emily Martin, Royal Australian Mint CEO, said: “The coins celebrate the Commonwealth Games as one of the world's largest international multi-sport events and recognise the achievements of our athletes. Don’t forget to check your change when shopping with cash at Woolworths from 15 July. You too might take home gold!”

The coins are strictly limited edition and will only be available via change at most Woolworths registers while stock lasts.

Commonwealth Games Australia CEO, Craig Phillips AM, said: “On behalf of our team, we’re really pleased to welcome Woolworths and the Royal Australian Mint as Official Partners of the Australian Commonwealth Games Team.”

“Woolworths has a long history of supporting the Australian Commonwealth Games Team

and celebrating iconic sporting moments. This is the third Commonwealth Games coin program

that Woolworths have collaborated with the Mint on, giving Australians a tangible way to connect

with our team. With their support, a new generation of athletes will head to Glasgow ready to make their mark and even create a few coin-worthy moments of their own.

The 2026 collection continues a series of successful partnerships between Woolworths and the Royal Australian Mint, including the Commbank Matildas, Vegemite, The Wiggles, and previous Olympic and Commonwealth Games editions.
