Butter believe it: SpudBAR is celebrating National Potato Day with 1,000 free loaded spuds

SpudBAR 2 mins read

For a brand built entirely on the humble potato, National Potato Day is the closest thing it has to a national holiday, and SpudBAR is marking it the only way that feels right: by giving away 1,000 loaded spuds, on the house.

The humble potato has quietly fed the world for centuries. It is dependable, generous and rarely given much credit. This National Potato Day, Wednesday 19 August, SpudBAR is giving it the fanfare it deserves, with 1,000 free loaded spuds to be handed out across all stores, nationwide

“We have spent 25 years making the case that loaded spuds belong alongside burgers and pizzas as fast-food favourites - not in their shadow,” said Andrew Mitchell, Managing Director of SpudBAR. “Giving away a thousand loaded spuds is our way of turning National Potato Day into the celebration it should be, while inviting Australians to experience the country's most underrated fast food for themselves.”

Fast, real and made to feel good, SpudBAR has been in the business of the loaded spud since 2000, long enough to call itself the original. The idea has stayed simple because it has never needed to change: a simple potato, baked, buttered and loaded with comforting hot toppings, fresh local produce and delicious sauces. It's proper food served fast, proving that convenience and quality were never at odds.

The giveaway also marks the beginning of a new chapter for SpudBAR. Following 18 months spent strengthening the foundations of the business, the 25-year-old Australian brand is embarking on its most ambitious growth phase yet, with new stores in the pipeline, a rolling refurbishment of its existing 20-store network, an evolved menu and the biggest marketing campaign in its history rolling out nationally over the coming weeks.

National Potato Day only comes around once a year, and SpudBAR intends to make this one count. Full menus and store locations are at spudbar.com.au, with everything happening on the day shared across @spudbarau. The humble spud has waited a long time for its moment. On Wednesday 19 August, it finally gets one.

HOW THE 1,000 FREE SPUD GIVEAWAY WORKS

The celebration is open to everyone, first come, first spudded. From open on Wednesday 19 August, customers can walk into a participating SpudBAR restaurant and claim a free loaded spud. The first 1,000 are on the house. Once they are gone, every loaded spud is half price for the rest of the day, so the celebration carries on from first serve to last.
