- An installation has been set up at the Blue Tree, Lions Park on the Dawson Highway in Gladstone, to coincide with World Suicide Prevention Day on Thursday 10 September, offering a space for reflection on lived experiences of suicide.
- The community installation will be available to visit from Monday 7 September to Friday 11 September 2026, between 8.30 am and 3.30 pm, with a launch event on 7 September from 9.30 am to 11.30 am.
- Visitors to the installation can learn about national and local support services available in the Gladstone region.
- Community members are invited to join Roses in the Ocean and local support services on Friday 11 September from 9 am to 10.30 am to connect and chat.
- The Peer CARE Companion in Community service offers in-person, light-touch peer support, meeting people where they are at through informal activities such as sharing a coffee or a dog walk.
We know that many people have a lived experience of suicide in the Gladstone region. We know that these experiences are highly individual and that each of us have a unique way of processing our experiences with suicide.
For many in our community, lived experience of suicide is a deeply personal and often private experience. To align with World Suicide Prevention Day on Thursday 10 September, an installation has been set up for the community at the Blue Tree, to allow space and time for reflection. Located at Lions Park on the Dawson Highway in Gladstone, community members are welcomed to visit the site, spend time thinking on their personal experiences with suicide, learn about national support services, as well as many local support options available in Gladstone.
Community members are welcome to join Roses in the Ocean and other local support services on Friday 11 September from 9 am to 10.30 am to connect, chat and spend time together. You can chat to the Roses in the Ocean team about our local support services, such as the Peer CARE Companion in Community service - which offers in-person, light-touch peer support and connection - from a coffee to a dog walk, meeting you where you are at.
