PANDA MEETS KOALA: China- Australia and New Zealand

 

A special edition of PANDA MEETS KOALA, a book published for the China Themed Book Fair & Cultural and Creative Products Exhibition. The delightful imagination of children from 5 to 14 years of age, celebrate creativity as they welcome pandas and koalas in this beautiful book.

 

CIBTC identifies children's literature as one of its strongest overseas categories. It has offices around the world. Its inaugural fair is at the State Library of NSW in Sydney.

 

Opened by the Consul General of China, Wang Yue, who welcomed cultural collaboration between China and Australia and New Zealand. Sixteen Chinese publishers attended the seminars and Fair joining Australian and New Zealand publishers including Allen & Unwin, Hardie Grant Children’s Publishing, Little Learners Love Literacy and Writing Australia, Creative Australia, Australian Society of Authors, Australian Publishers Association, DFAT and others.   

 

THE MC Mr Gao Yunpeng, Director of Export Centre CIBTC introduced outstanding speakers giving insights on AI, publishing partnerships, 500 mainstream bookstores and Chinese language bookstores worldwide, more than 3,000 overseas libraries and the exclusive distributer of 10,000 Chinese newspapers and periodicals with more than 50 online platforms. To date China has distributed nearly 2 billion

copies of publications in more than 40 languages in over 180 countries and regions around the world.  Australia is cultivating exchanges. There was a unique signing in Sydney  by Australia and China of commitments to support publishing in each country by Fujian Education Press and Cultural Hub, CIBTC and Australian Publishers Association, CIBTC and Prime Media New Zealand and Fujian People Publisher and Bateman Books.

A China‑themed Book Fair and Cultural Creative Products Exhibition brings together

Australian and New Zealand literature, design, heritage, and contemporary creativity. With, cultural demonstrations, publisher showcases, cultural creative products, book stalls open to all ages.  The China International Book Trading Corporation (CIBTC) is China's first book import and export agency and largest trading company of books in professional fields, as well as one of the country's leading forces in book exports. It brings together the insights and resources of China and Australia publishing, copyright organizations and cultural institutions from both countries and beyond. Susanne Gervay OAM was invited to present on Writing for Children Around the World with a special focus on Elephants Have Wings inspired by the ancient parable of the blind men and

 

 

 

the elephant. A deep cross-cultural philosophy originating in South Asia, it has spread across the world from Buddhist, Jain, Hindu, Persian Sufi literature and finally into European and Western ideas.

 

Parrot Palace like Elephants Have Wings fosters social inclusion and cohesion. ‘It is an open invitation from the heart to step into multi-hued, multicultural, inclusive world were difference is celebrated, tradition is valued, and the language of love is spoken. It makes the world a better place.

 

The Publishers from China included China Social Sciences Press, People’s Medical Publishing House, Posts & Telecom Press, Beijing Times Chinese Press, Anhui Educational Publishing House, Emergency Management Press, The Palace Museum Press, Time New Media Press, Publishing House of Electonics Industry (PHEI),Fujian People’s Publishing House, Fujian Education Press, Fujian Science & Technology Publishing House, Huang Shan Publishing House and others. It is an exciting new development of collaboration of China and Australia and New Zealand.
