UGL Transport has renewed its long-term maintenance agreement with One Rail Australia, extending a partnership that has supported the safe and reliable movement of freight across Australia's east coast for more than 15 years.
The five-year contract, with options to extend, covers maintenance and overhaul services for the majority of One Rail Australia's locomotive fleet, including rotables, engines and bogies.
The agreement will support specialised rolling stock maintenance and manufacturing jobs at UGL Transport's Hunter Valley Maintenance Centre and Broadmeadow workshops in Newcastle.
UGL Transport Chief Executive Officer Ian Quarrie said:
“One Rail Australia plays an important role in Australia's freight network, helping move critical goods safely and efficiently across the country. We are proud to continue supporting their operations through our maintenance and overhaul expertise, backed by the skills and dedication of our people.
“Our relationship began more than 15 years ago when UGL Transport delivered Australian-made locomotives built at our Broadmeadow workshops in Newcastle. Today, we continue to maintain and overhaul those assets, demonstrating the enduring value of our engineering and manufacturing capability.”
One Rail Australia Chief Executive Officer Andrew Betts said:
“The renewed agreement reflects the strength of the long-standing relationship between UGL Transport and One Rail Australia.
“The reliability of our fleet is fundamental to the service we provide. UGL Transport’s maintenance expertise and the support of their people play an important role in helping us deliver the safe and consistent services our customers rely on.
“We value the knowledge, capability and commitment UGL Transport brings to our business and look forward to continuing to work together over the next five years.”
