The winners of the Australian Institute of Architects’ highest honour will continue their Australian tour tonight in Melbourne.
Neil Durbach, Camilla Block and David Jaggers – practising together as Durbach Block Jaggers Architects – are the 2026 recipients of the Institute’s Gold Medal, which recognises highly distinguished service by architects.
The Gold Medal Tour will see Neil, Camilla and David take to the stage in every Australian capital city, sharing with the wider community their work, ideas and practice.
Gold Medal Jury member, and former President of the Institute, Jane Cassidy LFRAIA, said that Durbach Block Jaggers were a significant and enduring voice in Australian contemporary architecture.
“Neil, Camilla and David’s work is one of beauty, delight and joy, with their contribution to our professional community an equal match,” said Ms Cassidy.
“For almost three decades, their work has demonstrated that architecture can be intellectually rigorous, deeply affecting and profoundly civic.
“They have created a practice together which has changed the Australian built environment for the better and elevated our collective understanding of the promise of what architecture can be.
“The Australian Institute of Architects is thrilled to be bringing the Gold Medal Tour to life once again, allowing audiences from across the country to hear directly from and be inspired by Neil, Camilla and David.”
The Gold Medal Tour will be held in Melbourne tonight (Thursday 17 September) at 6:00pm for a 6:30pm start, at RMIT Swanston Academic Building, 445 Swanston St, Melbourne. Tickets are available here.
