Dementia Action Week pop-up in Brisbane
What: To help start a conversation about dementia this Dementia Action Week, Dementia Australia is inviting media to join the public, Dementia Australia representatives and Dementia Advocates who will be sharing their experiences and stories about dementia at a pop-up rotary phone plinth at The State Library of Queensland from 10:30am – 11:30am AEST on Thursday 24 September 2026.
Theme: It’s time to talk about dementia.
Dementia is Australia’s leading cause of death, but it is a topic that is not discussed openly enough. With close to half a million Australians living with dementia, and this number on the rise, now is the time to talk about dementia.
Call to Action: This Dementia Action Week, Dementia Australia is asking everyone to join a national conversation to increase understanding and reduce stigma that surrounds Australia’s leading cause of death.

Spokespeople: Interviews are available with Dementia Australia spokespeople and Dementia Australia Dementia Advocates (people living with dementia and carers).
