Dementia is now Australia’s leading cause of death. So, what can we do to reduce our risk and what’s new in diagnosis and treatment?
This Dementia Action Week (21-27 September) speak with researchers from Neuroscience Research Australia (NeuRA) who are working to:
- improve our understanding of dementia, its causes and the risk factors;
- make life better for those living with the condition, including tackling stigma and person-centred care;
- understand why women can be disproportionately affected by dementia
- expedite and personalise diagnosis, including through blood biomarkers in the Asia-Pacific Centre of Excellence for Alzheimer’s Disease Diagnosis; and
- supporting patients with new treatments.
This year’s theme is “It’s time to talk about dementia”, so why not speak with our researchers about their work!
