Head and Neck Cancer Australia today launched a $1 million fundraising appeal, calling on Australians to support people affected by head and neck cancer.
The charity’s Lend Your Voice campaign is proudly supported by a significant contribution associated with The Songs of John Farnham: A Living Legend, A Celebration Concert on Sunday 20 September. Produced by Cochrane Entertainment and TEG Dainty, the concert is helping raise awareness of head and neck cancer and inspiring Australians to lend their voice to this important cause.
Australians are invited to build on this remarkable contribution through individual giving, community fundraising and business support. Media and industry partners are also supporting the campaign with in-kind contributions, helping bring its message to broader audiences and encouraging Australians to donate ahead of the concert and beyond.
More than 5,600 Australians are diagnosed with head and neck cancer every year, and around 18,000 are living with its long-term impacts.
Funds raised will help Head and Neck Cancer Australia provide free access to specialist nurses, counselling and trusted information, while strengthening advocacy for earlier diagnosis, better care and improved outcomes.
Head and Neck Cancer Australia Chief Executive Officer Nadia Rosin said the campaign would address needs that continue long after a cancer diagnosis and treatment.
“Head and neck cancer can change how a person speaks, eats, breathes and looks. The impact on everyday life can be profound, for both the person diagnosed and those caring for them,” Ms Rosin said.
“People need somewhere to turn for trusted information, someone who understands what they are facing, and support as they adjust to life during and after treatment. Our goal is to raise $1 million to help meet those needs and give more Australians access to support.”
Ms Rosin thanked Cochrane Entertainment and TEG Dainty and the organisations supporting the campaign.
“We are deeply grateful to Cochrane Entertainment, TEG Dainty and all of the artists, musicians and crew for bringing this concert to life, and to the media and industry partners lending their platforms, skills and time to help more Australians hear our message,” she said.
“John Farnham’s openness about his own experience has helped give a voice to others affected by this disease. As Australians prepare to celebrate his music, we are asking them to support people facing their own head and neck cancer journey.
“The concert will be an important moment, and our Lend Your Voice campaign will continue over the coming year. You can help us reach $1 million by donating, organising a fundraiser or getting your workplace involved,” Ms Rosin said.
