Major glow up of Showtime Events Centre unveiled at spectacular South Wharf showcase event

Soda Communications 3 mins read

Melbourne’s premier event company Showtime Event Group has revealed the first stage of a major refurbishment of its flagship venue, Showtime Events Centre, during a lavish showcase event on Thursday 17 September.

The unveiling of the Group’s ‘OG’ venue’s transformation was preceded by a tour of its two other river-facing event spaces on South Wharf Promenade – Cargo Hall (which is also undergoing an uplift) and Aerial – and an awe-inspiring demonstration of the team’s expertise in delivering memorable events and ‘outside the box’ creative concepts.

Showtime Event Group’s Chief Commercial Officer Katie Tinetti told the 150 invitees that the refurbishment sees the Showtime Events Centre emerge as a premium and modernised space, while retaining its heritage features and industrial chic character, positioned within one of Melbourne’s most prestigious events precincts.

“In developing our vision and plan for the transformation of this space, we asked our staff, clients and industry stakeholders what elements they loved about the original space as well as what would take our business and offering to the next level,” she said.

“The redesign project, which will continue to evolve in 2027 with stage two, is part of a major investment by Showtime Event Group and really heralds the start of an exciting new era for the business.

“Our revitalised Showtime Events Centre gives us a stunning and flexible canvas to bring clients’ corporate events, gala dinners, launches, weddings and celebrations to life, while a complete redesign and refinishing of Showtime’s feature bar – one of the venue’s defining focal points – creates a much stronger visual statement within the room.

“This space gives us the freedom to be creative, innovative and unexpected in what we deliver, while creating concepts that can inspire experiences across our wider portfolio.”

“The new house and architectural lighting that has been integrated throughout the venue gives our creative and production teams greater ability to create ambience, mood and atmosphere.”

The showcase saw each of Showtime’s three South Wharf venues demonstrate strikingly different event concepts through food, design and entertainment, creating a lasting impression on the guests.

Showcase Event Group’s Head of Culinary Karl Edmonds explained that client and guest expectations around events continue to escalate, with growing demand for exceptional dining and experiences that are hyper-personalised and that create moments of connection.

“This is a challenge that our team absolutely thrives on. We love nothing more than drawing on the expertise of our passionate event planners, chefs, creative and operational experts to focus on the details that transform events from being great to unforgettable,” he said.

“The showcase provided a glimpse of our new culinary direction demonstrating the creativity, precision and flexibility of Showtime Event Group’s food and beverage offering.

“The menu inspiration was to be part of the spectacle by delivering a series of visually stunning, flavour-led moments.”

The flagship Showtime Events Centre is located at 61 South Wharf Promenade with exceptional views over Melbourne’s city skyline. The stunning industrial warehouse has a 435m2 footprint that’s perfect for product launches, conference and gala celebrations. It offers capacity for 280 seated patrons or 600 people for cocktail functions.

Along with its South Wharf properties, Showtime Event Group’s other high-profile venues include Melbourne Town Hall, Rippon Lea Estate, SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium, Abbotsford Convent and Western Grounds (overlooking Mission Whitten Oval, Footscray).
