The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Water Award continues to attract strong interest from innovators, researchers and institutions worldwide as it enters the final phase of its fifth cycle. Overseen by the UAE Water Aid Foundation (Suqia UAE) under the umbrella of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives and with a total prize value of USD 1 million, the award promotes the development of sustainable solutions that help tackle water scarcity and improve access to safe water, particularly in communities most affected by water shortages.

Applicants are encouraged to submit comprehensive information about their submissions, thereby helping the judging panel evaluate the various stages and mechanisms of their innovation, including water production, treatment, storage, distribution and quality monitoring. Applications may also be supported by evidence demonstrating the impact and effectiveness of the innovation, such as field photographs, prototype results, case studies, videos and performance data.

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Water Award provides a global platform for innovators to launch their innovations and projects, developing and scaling them while fostering innovative solutions that help address water scarcity,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Suqia UAE.

The award comprises of four main categories: the Innovative Projects Award, which includes the Large Projects Award and the Small Projects Award; the Innovative Research and Development Award, which includes the National Institutions Award and the International Institutions Award; the Innovative Individual Award, which includes the Distinguished Researcher Award and the Youth Award; and the Innovative Crisis Solutions Award.
