Key Facts:
  • Metakosmos will demonstrate its AI-enabled Kernel360™ defence software at Land Forces 2026 (6–8 October, Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre), showcasing a platform that connects operator physiology, protective equipment and mission records in a single environment.
  • Kernel360™ addresses the fragmented data landscape faced by defence teams by combining operator visualisations, mission-phase displays, replay, fleet views and record imports, with deployment options including cloud, on-premises and air-gapped environments.
  • The platform integrates biometric, biomechanical and cognitive indicators alongside suit-subsystem behaviour and environmental exposure data, with domain profiles adaptable to environments spanning aircrew, diving, space, CBRN, land forces, firefighting and offshore operations.

SYDNEY, Australia, 30 September 2026 - Metakosmos will unveil its AI-enabled Kernel360™ defence software at Land Forces 2026, connecting operator physiology, protective equipment and mission records in one environment. The Australian company will demonstrate the software at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre from 6-8th October.

Defence teams face a fragmented picture of the operator inside the suit. Wearables, protective systems and mission platforms produce separate records, while many garments generate no telemetry. Kernel360™ brings these sources into a common operator context, helping teams examine what happened, under which conditions and with which equipment configuration.

“Every mission depends on the combined performance of the operator and the equipment,” said Kiriti Rambhatla, CEO of Metakosmos. “We are building Kernel360™ to connect the data around that operator, enabling teams to reconstruct what occurred and understand how the person and their equipment performed together.”

Developed through Metakosmos’s PULSE platform module, Kernel360™ combines operator visualisations, mission-phase displays, replay, fleet views and record imports. Deployment options include cloud, on-premises and air-gapped environments.

The record travels with the operator

The architecture connects a nodal sensor network, suit computer, multimodal communications device and mission console. Local recording is designed to preserve mission data when connectivity is interrupted. Communications options include cellular and satellite links, with acoustic configurations envisaged for underwater applications.

Domain profiles adapt parameters, sampling rates, thresholds and mission phases to different environments. Applications span aircrew and HALO operations, diving, space missions, CBRN, land forces, firefighting, polar work, mining and offshore operations.

The platform brings biometric and biomechanical measurements together with cognitive indicators, suit-subsystem behaviour and environmental exposure. Serial specific equipment histories associate configuration and accumulated exposure with individual articles, supporting engineering investigations and future condition based maintenance assessments.

Built for integration with existing systems

Wearables, uniforms and enterprise systems often operate in fragmented silos. Existing protective equipment may carry no telemetry at all, while connected devices expose different interfaces. Teams are left reconciling personal-device readings, equipment logs and mission records after the event. Kernel360’s proprietary telemetry framework supports mapping to customer systems while preserving the context behind each measurement.

Target interfaces include CCSDS for space, OPC UA for industrial systems, FHIR for health information exchange, and relevant STANAG and ARINC specifications for defence and avionics.

The modular software architecture supports Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) objectives through defined interfaces and independently evolving components. Integration evaluations address data rights, field mappings, units, timing and conformance. Security evaluations are aligned with Australia’s Information Security Manual and NIST’s Secure Software Development Framework.

Clinical context and traceable evidence

Record import workflows support multiple clinical data formats, placing clinical information alongside performance metrics for authorised users. Advanced anatomical visualisations add movement context; and clinical interpretation remains with qualified personnel.

The development builds on the Kernel360™ platform, recognised with a 2024 Australian Good Design Award, alongside Metakosmos’s participation in Defence Innovation Network diver-physiology research and CSIRO’s Kick-Start program.

Bring an integration challenge to Land Forces

Metakosmos invites human performance specialists, equipment manufacturers, capability teams and platform integrators to define a test evaluation.

Demonstrations will focus on how a shared operator record can support equipment evaluation, mission review and a practical pathway from individual trials to fleet deployment.

Committee Examines Australia-Fiji Defence and Security Agreements

The Joint Standing Committee on Treaties (JSCOT) will hold a public hearing on Thursday 1 October as part of its inquiries into the Ocean of Peace Alliance and Fiji-Australia Vuvale Union. The treaties were both referred to the Committee on 11 August 2026 and will be examined together due to their complementary defence, security and regional cooperation objectives. The Ocean of Peace Alliance aims to establish a defence and security partnership between Australia and Fiji. The treaty will require both countries to cooperate to develop defence capacity, consult in the event of security-related developments, and act to meet the common…

Researchers get AI ‘drunk’ to expose new cyber security risks in chatbots

Fine-tuning large language models using drunken text makes them more likely to leak secrets and answer harmful questions, new UNSW-led research shows. UNSW researchers have shown that large language models (LLMs) can be pushed to imitate drunken behaviour – and that once they do, they are significantly more likely to leak confidential information and answer questions they are designed to refuse. In the study, conceptualised and led by Dr Aditya Joshi, Senior Lecturer, School of Computer Science and Engineering, with Anudeex Shetty (Research Assistant) and Professor Salil Kanhere, researchers from UNSW’s School of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) found that AI…
