THE WOOLOOMA CLASSIC ADVENTURE RUN

KIDS Foundation 2 mins read

Against the breathtaking backdrop of the Upper Hunter Valley, runners will tackle one of Australia's toughest rural adventure runs this weekend while supporting children and families impacted by trauma, injury, burns and disabling health conditions.

The Woolooma Classic Adventure Run, held on private property near Belltrees, NSW, will see participants take on a gruelling 30.9km trail course featuring more than 1,400 metres of elevation gain and some of the most spectacular and rugged terrain in regional Australia.

This year's event proudly supports KIDS Foundation, helping raise awareness and funds for children, young people and families navigating recovery following life-altering injury, trauma and complex health conditions.

Phoebe White, Director of Woolooma Trading and founder of the Woolooma Classic, said the event is about challenging yourself while connecting to a greater purpose.

"The Woolooma Classic was created to share this extraordinary landscape with others while supporting a cause that genuinely changes lives. When you hear the stories of resilience from the KIDS Foundation community, it puts every hill and every
kilometre into perspective."

Before runners set off, they will hear from KIDS Foundation Ambassador Mick Marshall and KIDS mentor Kel Keir, two remarkable individuals whose stories embody the spirit of the event.

Mick Marshall holds the world record for the fastest marathon and half marathon ever run on crutches, set after a workplace
fall left him with life-changing injuries. He now races marathons and trail events worldwide, championing movement for mental health. A proud KIDS Foundation Ambassador, Mick is running the Woolooma Classic in support as he challenges himself to climb his next mountain and encourages others to do the same.

Ben Seymour will also take on the course, running in support of KIDS Foundation after becoming a passionate advocate for the organisation through the Woolooma Classic. Inspired by the stories of resilience he encountered through KIDS, Ben has remained a strong supporter of the Foundation's mission.

Alongside Mick and Ben will be Kel Keir, a KIDS Foundation mentor and participant in the Foundation's Empowering RIGHTS Program. Kel experienced life-changing burns as a young child as a result of an act of cruelty. He will share his personal journey of recovery, resilience and finding strength through adversity.

Together, Ben, Mick, and Kel's stories are a powerful reminder that while life's challenges may shape our journey, they do not define who we are, what we can achieve, or what is possible for our future.

Dr Susie O'Neill OAM, CEO of KIDS Foundation, said the event reflects the resilience seen every day across the KIDS
community.

"Every day, KIDS Foundation works alongside children, young people and families navigating some of life's most difficult challenges following trauma and injury. Yet time and time again, we see extraordinary courage, determination and hope."

"The Woolooma Classic is much more than an endurance event. It is a celebration of resilience and a reminder that when we challenge ourselves, support one another and refuse to give up, incredible things are possible. We are deeply grateful to Phoebe White and Jono Bush, every participant, volunteer and supporter who has chosen to run with purpose.

Their efforts help ensure children and families impacted by trauma and injury receive the support they need to heal, recover and thrive."

Since 1993, KIDS Foundation has supported children, young people and families impacted by trauma, injury, burns and disabling health conditions through life-changing Recovery and Education Programs. Guided by its mission to Build Strong Lives, the Foundation reaches more than 300,000 children and families annually, helping create safer, stronger and more connected communities.
