Tourism revenue in the picturesque village of Tumut in the Riverina Murray district of New South Wales has risen 18% at the local holiday park since Crown Land manager Reflections Holidays was appointed to manage the park in 2025 and committed to partnering with the community to enhance the visitor economy.

Reflections Holidays chief executive Nick Baker said that Reflections - the largest holiday park group in NSW, unique in its industry for reinvesting profit back into the 40 holiday parks in its portfolio – had invested $1 million at the Tumut park, including installing four tiny homes riverside and upgrading the existing camp kitchen.

Gathering with key tourism and business figures on Thursday in Tumut to mark the 18-month milestone of Reflections’ operations in the riverside village, Mr Baker said that internal data showed that from March 2025 to July, 2026,  Reflections had delivered more than 43,000 nights of accommodation and extended the average length of stay – which means more people are visiting and staying longer.

“When we became the Crown Land manager of this beautiful park, we recognised what a valuable asset it is for the community and visitors alike. We wanted to build on its strengths, enhance the visitor experience, and support the local tourism economy,” Mr Baker said.

“Most of the tradespeople who were contracted to work on our park improvement program were local, with one plumber we engaged able to employ an additional apprentice because of the new work opportunities.”

Since Reflections took over the Tumut holiday park, it has generated an 18% increase in tourist revenue in the park, helping to drive $5.7 million** in economic benefit for the region (** based on the industry multiplier – the BDO economic benefit of a caravan park is $1.53 for every $1 of Park Revenue – CCIA Conference 2022).

“These figures are really rewarding for our hard-working team, knowing that they are making an impact in the community that they are very much a part of and love,” Mr Baker said, noting that Reflections Tumut River had recently thrown its support behind an inaugural winter solstice swim which raised $4000 for the local branch of Can Assist, which offers financial and general support to cancer patients.

Minister for Lands and Tourism Steve Kamper said the results highlighted how well-managed Crown land can support local communities, jobs and regional economies.

"Reflections Tumut River is a great example of how Crown land can deliver public value, attracting more visitors, supporting local businesses and creating economic benefits for the wider community," Mr Kamper said.

"An 18 per cent increase in tourism revenue is a strong result for Tumut and demonstrates the important role visitor accommodation and tourism infrastructure on Crown land can play in helping regional destinations thrive."

In 2025, Reflections hosted a workshop for local business owners, community and tourism organisations to understand ways that it could make a positive impact on issues that were important to residents and local businesses.

“When we came into Tumut we met local stakeholders, ranging from Snowy Valleys Council and owners of businesses including the brewery and a popular cafe, to get a grassroots idea of what mattered to the community. They told us that was community pride and belonging, local jobs and training, environmental stewardship and support for events and businesses, and we’ve listened and acted,” Mr Baker said.

“It is really fantastic to return to Tumut now and meet all of the same stakeholders and businesses to celebrate the positive impact of tourism in Tumut which we’ve contributed to and again listen to suggestions from the community and businesses about how we can continue to work together to increase tourism in the area.”

“We’re here for the long term, we want to be a vital part of tourism infrastructure and be considered a strong champion for the region, and we’re really humbled to have been welcomed so genuinely by the community.”
