APD Global wins Transmission & Distribution category at Bentley’s 2026 Year in Infrastructure Awards

Western Australian firm recognised for its design delivery on Clean Energy Link – North, a first for Australia in the category

PERTH, 21 October 2026 – Western Australian engineering and technology consultancy APD Global has won the Transmission & Distribution category at Bentley Systems’ 2026 Year in Infrastructure (YII) Awards, announced in Singapore on 7 October. The award recognises APD Global’s integrated digital delivery of the multidisciplinary design for Clean Energy Link – North in Western Australia.

More than 300 projects from 53 countries were nominated. Independent judges chose winners across 12 categories during the YII event in Singapore on 6 and 7 October.

“This is an outstanding achievement by our team, and the first time Australia has won the Transmission & Distribution category. Clean Energy Link – North is critical infrastructure for Western Australia, and as a proudly Western Australian company it means a great deal to see work done here recognised as the best in the world. This project shows that innovation is about more than adopting new technology; it’s about applying technology in a practical and tangible way to improve engineering delivery and create lasting value for the communities that will rely on this infrastructure,” said Jordan Kosek, Managing Director, APD Global.

Clean Energy Link – North is a major upgrade of the transmission network along the corridor from Northern Terminal in Malaga to Three Springs, and the largest investment in Western Australia’s transmission infrastructure in more than a decade. Due for completion by the end of 2027, it will unlock around 400 MW of existing wind generation and a further 1 GW of new renewable energy for the South West Interconnected System.

“A category win from a field of more than 300 projects shows Australian infrastructure teams are among the best in the world at putting connected data to work. APD Global is a great example of a team that starts with the end in mind to ensure the golden thread of data is carried through to the operations and maintenance phase, leveraging digital workflows and AI to deliver complex energy projects with more certainty. This matters at a time when the industry is being asked to deliver a massive pipeline with fewer people and a capacity shortage within the workforce. We have to do more with less,” said Vivek Kumar, Senior Regional Director ANZ, Bentley Systems.

Bentley Systems said this year’s finalists had moved well beyond digitising traditional workflows, with 24 of the 36 finalist projects reporting the use of AI in some form. By connecting data across lifecycle phases and engineering disciplines, finalists were using AI to achieve outcomes that were previously out of reach.

New polling reveals majority of Australians support nuclear energy

*** Spokespeople are available for comment *** Thursday 22 October 2026 Almost two-thirds of Australians believe nuclear power should be part of the nation's energy future, as new polling reveals growing concerns about Australia's ability to meet its electricity needs. New YouGov research commissioned by Nuclear for Australia has found that 63% of Australians believe nuclear power should be considered, while 60% believe it will form part of Australia's future energy mix. The findings come as both the demand for and cost of electricity grows, driven by AI, data centres and electrification, while the ongoing conflict in the Middle East…
