Coles is teaming up with Old El Paso to put a Mexican-inspired twist on one of its most-loved dinner favourites, with the new Old El Paso Hot Roast Chicken launching nationally from 4 November.

The collaboration brings together two of Coles’ biggest customer favourites, pairing its iconic Hot Roast Chicken, the second most popular product across Coles stores nationally, with Old El Paso, the most popular brand in Coles’ Mexican range.

The new addition to the range offers households a great value, convenient meal solution that can be on the table in under 15 minutes. Priced at $14.50, or $13.50 for the first two weeks, it can be enjoyed straight from the bag, or easily turned into tacos, wraps, salads or loaded nachos for a budget-friendly dinner at home.

The new hot roast chook flavour will be available in all Coles stores and via Uber Eats for a limited four-month run or while stocks last.

Coles Product Developer Suzanne De Monte said the new flavour gives customers a fresh take on a much-loved dinner staple.

“We know Hot Roast Chickens are already a go-to for busy nights, so teaming up with Old El Paso is a fun way to give customers a new, easy and affordable way to enjoy a dinner favourite,” she said.

“The best part is how versatile it is. It’s packed with flavour on its own, but it’s also a great base for tacos, tortillas or loaded nachos when you want to mix things up.”

General Mills Marketing Director, ANZ, Surini Perera said with 72% of Australians already enjoying Mexican at home as a mid-week meal[1], the partnership felt like a natural fit.

“We’re thrilled to see the excitement around our collaboration with Coles, bringing the Old El Paso signature Mexican-inspired flavour to the much-loved Hot Roast Chicken. It’s a delicious new way to bring taco night to the table, and we can’t wait for Australians to try it when it lands exclusively at Coles on 4 November.”

The new release comes as new Coles research reveals 59% of customers admit to cutting back on takeaway and eating out, the leading category where customers are reducing their spending, ahead of social outings, gifts and health and beauty[2].
