- Alvacomm expands DropSync 360 into fresh produce
- Diversified buyers reduce reliance on major retailers
- Connects growers, aggregators, distributors and commercial buyers
- Coordinates harvests, inventory, pricing, orders and fulfilment
- Businesses retain branding, customers and existing systems
Australian technology company Alvacomm has expanded its DropSync 360 distribution platform into Australia's fresh produce industry, introducing connected infrastructure that enables established agricultural networks to diversify commercial buyers while maintaining major supermarket supply relationships.
The development addresses a concentration risk in Australian agriculture. Supply arrangements with major retailers can deliver substantial volumes, but changes in purchasing strategies can affect not only growers, but also packing facilities, freight providers and aggregators whose operations support those agreements.
For an established produce network, diversifying sales does not mean abandoning supermarkets. It means being able to serve restaurants, hospitals, schools, food manufacturers and independent retailers alongside existing customers, without creating separate ordering and distribution processes for every new account.
Alvacomm’s fresh produce capabilities connect buyer accounts, product availability, commercial pricing, orders, stock allocation and fulfilment across businesses already operating in the supply chain. The aggregator or distributor remains responsible for the customer relationship and retains its established supply and logistics arrangements.
Diversifying buyers through existing networks
A network that previously moved large volumes through a limited number of accounts may need to coordinate many smaller orders with different prices, delivery schedules and product requirements. DropSync 360 allows distributors to manage these conditions for each buyer within a connected purchasing environment.
Approved commercial customers can use client-branded B2B ordering environments and mobile applications. Participating businesses retain their own identity, account terms and customer relationships; Alvacomm supplies the infrastructure behind the transactions rather than becoming an additional produce intermediary.
“Major retailers remain important customers for Australian agriculture. The opportunity is to give growers and aggregators greater control over their commercial future by making it practical to serve a broader range of buyers through the networks they already operate,” said Wayne Alvarez, CEO of Alvacomm.
Connecting harvest availability with orders and fulfilment
The fresh produce functionality covers harvest batches, grading, grower attribution, stock availability, customer-specific pricing, reservations, order allocation and partial fulfilment. Produce handled through an aggregation facility can be attributed to its originating grower while available quantities are coordinated against incoming buyer orders.
For perishable stock, allocation can take account of time-sensitive handling requirements, including first-expiry-first-out processes where applicable. Warehouse activity and outstanding quantities can be tracked alongside commercial orders, reducing reliance on disconnected spreadsheets and manual updates.
The platform supports warehouse operations and connections to existing ERP, accounting and inventory systems, allowing businesses to retain their internal software while coordinating transactions across the wider supply network.
The fresh produce application extends technology Alvacomm has developed for distribution networks in motorcycle and powersports, marine, automotive and agricultural machinery industries. The common function is to connect independent businesses, operational systems and commercial rules without changing who owns each trading relationship.
Alvacomm is inviting Australian producer cooperatives, fresh produce aggregators, wholesalers and distribution businesses to discuss the commercial buyer networks they currently serve and the additional markets they want to reach. Further information is available on the DropSync 360 Fresh Produce page, or organisations can contact Alvacomm directly.
