SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA – 28 October 2026 – Range Rover has officially opened its Bespoke Commissioning Suite in Mascot, Sydney. To mark this milestone, the luxury brand is displaying the first Range Rover to ever land on Australian shores alongside the Range Rover SV Bespoke Pioneer 1972, a singular creation inspired by this landmark vehicle.

The Bespoke Commissioning Suite is an exclusive atelier experience offering clients unprecedented levels of personalisation. Available for Range Rover and Range Rover Sport Autobiography and SV models, the ultra-luxury program allows clients to craft a truly one-of-a-kind vehicle. Guided by Range Rover design experts, clients can tailor every detail, from custom paint finishes and hand-selected leathers to bespoke veneers, custom embroidery, contrast stitching, precious metal accents, and personalised insignia.

As part of the Bespoke journey Range Rover extends the experience with a curated, luxury stay at Capella Sydney. Similarly rich in heritage and design, sharing the same value for modern luxury, and offering hyper-personalised hospitality, this Capella Sydney experience is designed to mirror the craftsmanship and calm precision of the commissioning process itself.

Guests are hosted for two nights, with access to Capella Sydney’s Culturists to personalise their stay, inclusive of return Range Rover transfers to and from the Bespoke Suite for their commissioning appointment

Honouring a Legendary Heritage

In early 1970, a Davos White Range Rover demonstration vehicle (serial number 35600022A) arrived in Australia ahead of the model’s official commercial launch in 1972. Remarkably, this landmark vehicle has been preserved with its original patina intact. It served as the direct inspiration for the Pioneer 1972, created specifically to celebrate the launch of Australia’s first Bespoke suite.

Where the original Davos White hue evoked the Swiss Alps, the Pioneer 1972 draws inspiration from the light and shadow of Mount Kosciuszko - a region synonymous with Range Rover’s Australian debut and one that persists to this day.

Exquisite Design Details

Exterior: Finished in a custom Bespoke White Gloss infused with fine metallic flakes that mirror shimmering snow, creating a luminous, sculptural presence. Gloss Black mirror caps and 23-inch Oblivion Diamond Turned alloy wheels with a Gloss Dark Grey contrast provide a striking offset.

Interior: The cabin features an exquisite combination of Caraway and Ebony leather, complemented by Natural Black Birch veneer and Satin Black ceramic controls.

Custom touches: Bespoke seat embroidery and scatter cushions feature a Perlino and Caraway stitch inspired by Kosciuszko’s snow-covered peaks. Illuminated treadplates inscribed with "Pioneer 1972 One of One" complete the interior.

Powertrain: Powering the Pioneer 1972 is Range Rover’s SV 4.4‑litre Twin Turbo V8 MHEV, delivering 452kW and exceptional dynamic refinement. The advanced SV powertrain ensures the one‑of‑one commission pairs its bespoke craftsmanship with the effortless performance expected of Range Rover’s flagship models.

Penny Ferguson, Managing Director, JLR Australia said; “The opening of our Bespoke Commissioning Suite in Sydney represents a significant milestone for Range Rover in Australia. It provides clients with an immersive environment to explore near-limitless personalisation possibilities and create a vehicle that reflects their individual vision.

The Pioneer 1972 perfectly embodies that philosophy, honouring the pioneering spirit of the first Range Rover to land in Australia while showcasing the extraordinary craftsmanship, creativity, and attention to detail that define the SV Bespoke experience today.”

Clients are invited to contact their local Range Rover Retailer to schedule an exclusive Bespoke commissioning session.
