Melbourne, Australia – 22 October 2026 – NOX Energy is expanding its apartment EV charging network across Melbourne, with charging now live for residents in more than 1,000 apartments across four sites in Kensington and Brunswick.
NOX Energy has also been appointed EV charging provider for Assemble, an end-to-end housing company designed to enable institutional investment in housing in Australia, with a focus on low and middle income housing. The appointment will deliver EV charging to residents in more than 800 homes across two new developments in Footscray and Coburg, bringing NOX Energy’s Melbourne footprint to six apartment communities and nearly 1,900 homes.
The expansion spans Melbourne’s inner north and west. In Kensington and Brunswick, residents across four established build-to-rent communities can already charge their vehicles at home. In Footscray and Coburg, NOX Energy is building charging into two new developments as they near completion, so charging will be available to residents as the buildings open.
For apartment residents, and renters in particular, access to charging at home remains one of the biggest barriers to owning an electric vehicle. Installing a private charger is rarely an option for people who don’t own their home or their car park. NOX Energy’s shared, managed charging infrastructure removes that barrier, giving residents convenient, low-cost charging in their own building.
Charlie Richardson, COO at NOX Energy, said the Melbourne expansion shows that EV charging can work for every type of housing, including apartments and rental homes.
“Our mission is to democratise access to EVs for all Australians, and that has to include people living in apartments and rental communities. Convenient charging at home can make a real difference to whether someone feels able to choose an electric vehicle. Bringing charging to nearly 1,900 homes across six of Assemble’s assets is a practical step towards making EV ownership a realistic choice for more Australians.”
The charging infrastructure combines NOX Energy’s Intelligent Power Sockets (IPS) with MSI 7kW Eco series chargers, giving residents options for everyday charging and faster charging when they need it. Managed through NOX Energy’s cloud-based platform and app, the system is designed to expand easily as more residents make the switch to electric, helping apartment buildings keep pace with growing EV adoption.
“Melbourne’s inner suburbs are full of apartment residents who are ready to go electric,” Richardson said. “Whether it’s an established building or a brand-new development, we can make charging simple, safe, and affordable. We’re proud to be growing across Melbourne and look forward to bringing more communities on board.”
The Melbourne rollout extends NOX Energy’s residential charging footprint across Australia, supporting residents in established apartment buildings and incorporating charging into new developments as they are delivered.
