Key Facts:
  • Sydney will host the biggest WBC Muay Thai event ever staged in Australia on Saturday 17 October 2026, when Thai fighters Wanchaloem and Yod Et contest the WBC Muay Thai Super Featherweight World Title — the first time two Thai fighters have competed for a WBC Muay Thai world title on Australian soil.
  • The event, Road to Rajadamnern, is presented by Amazing Thailand (the Tourism Authority of Thailand's global campaign) and features ten bouts, four WBC belts, and fighters from Thailand, Australia, Brazil, the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Philippines, and Palestine.
  • The event is fully sold out, reflecting Australia's strong appetite for Muay Thai; Australians are the second-largest group in the world travelling to Thailand to train in the sport, and more than 639,000 Australians visited Thailand in 2025, up 9% year on year.
  • The card also includes a co-main event between two Australians, Moey 187 Dahlan and Sunny Mawer, contesting the WBC Siam Warriors Belt, alongside bouts featuring fighters from across the globe.
  • For those unable to attend, a livestream of the event is available at livecombatsports.com.au.

THAILAND BRINGS A WORLD TITLE FIGHT TO SYDNEY

Two Thai champions, one WBC Muay Thai world title, on Australian soil for the first time — presented by Amazing Thailand, tomorrow night, and fully sold out.

Sydney, 16 October 2026 — Sydney hosts the biggest WBC Muay Thai event ever staged in Australia tomorrow, Saturday 17 October, when Thailand's Wanchaloem and Yod Et meet for the WBC Muay Thai Super Featherweight World Title. It is the first time two Thai fighters have contested a WBC Muay Thai world title in Australia.

The event, Road to Rajadamnern, is presented by Amazing Thailand — the Tourism Authority of Thailand's global campaign — with the 1774 Muaythai Series. Ten bouts, four WBC belts and fighters from Thailand, Australia, Brazil, the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Philippines and Palestine make up the card. Every seat is sold.

Amazing Thailand brings Muay Thai to Australia

Muay Thai is Thailand's national sport and part of its cultural heritage, and Australia has taken to it like few other countries. Australians are the second-largest group in the world travelling to Thailand to train in Muay Thai, behind only the British, according to the Tourism Authority of Thailand. More than 639,000 Australians visited Thailand in 2025, up 9% on the year before, and the sport is one of the reasons they keep going back.

That is why Thailand is here. The Tourism Authority of Thailand has put Amazing Thailand behind Road to Rajadamnern because Thailand is proud of how far its sport has travelled, and proud that an Australian crowd has sold out a world title fight between two of its own champions. The event brings the real thing to Sydney: Thai world-level fighters, WBC Muay Thai sanctioning and a pathway for Australian fighters toward Bangkok's Rajadamnern Stadium, the oldest Muay Thai stadium in the world.

The main event

Wanchaloem v Yod Et — WBC Muay Thai Super Featherweight World Title. Wanchaloem is no stranger to Sydney: he won the WBC Muay Thai Nai Khanom Tom title on a 1774 card here in February 2025 with a fifth-round knockout. Yod Et arrives from Thailand as the younger challenger. Both are products of the Bangkok stadium circuit.

Co-main: Moey "187" Dahlan v Sunny Mawer — WBC Siam Warriors Belt. Two Australians, one belt, straight after the world title.

Airam Diaz, WBC Muay Thai representative and promoter: "A WBC world title between two Thai fighters has never happened in Australia. Tomorrow it happens in Sydney, with Thailand itself behind it through Amazing Thailand. This is the standard of Muay Thai Australian fans normally have to fly to Bangkok to see. Road to Rajadamnern gives our fighters a genuine path to the stadiums where the sport was built, and it gives Sydney a world title fight on home soil."

Michael Green, promoter, 1774 Muaythai Series: "We have built 1774 on bringing authentic Thai Muay Thai to Sydney. Ten bouts, four WBC belts and a world title with the Tourism Authority of Thailand as presenting partner is the biggest card we have put on, and it sold out. That tells you where this sport is heading in Australia. Doors open at 4:30pm and the livestream is on livecombatsports.com.au for everyone who couldn't get a ticket."

Andrew Murray, Managing Director, Cognition Alpha (FightIQ): "FightIQ is being built with WBC Muay Thai to measure what makes a fighter perform, so we are proud to support an event of this calibre. Thailand bringing a world title fight to Sydney shows how far the sport's reach now extends, and that is exactly the platform FightIQ is designed to serve."

Road to Rajadamnern is presented by Amazing Thailand, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, with Road to Rajadamnern and the 1774 Muaythai Series, sanctioned by WBC Muay Thai under its President, General Thanapol, who is represented in Sydney by Andrew Murray, and supported by FightIQ, the performance-neuroscience platform for Muay Thai being built by Cognition Alpha with WBC Muay Thai.
