The National Automotive Leasing and Salary Packaging Association (NALSPA) congratulates Sussan Ley on her appointment as Leader of the Opposition, with CEO Rohan Martin describing it as a “historic and important moment in Australian politics.”
“Sussan Ley’s appointment marks the first time the Liberal Party has been led by a woman — and it comes at a time when Australian families are seeking practical solutions to the rising cost of living,” Mr Martin said.
"We trust under her leadership that the Liberal Party will evolve its understanding of the needs of modern Australia, informed in part by her deep and diverse professional and personal life.
“Ms Ley also brings a well developed and practical understanding of how government policy intersects with the day-to-day finances of working families. Her previous experience at the Australian Taxation Office, combined with her many years as a Member of Parliament, means she understands the important role that services such as salary packaging and novated leasing play in helping Australians stretch their pay further.”
NALSPA said the leadership reset was a chance for the Coalition to take stock of where voters stand on practical cost-of-living reforms.
“It is very clear that Australians — especially working families in the outer suburbs — want policies that lower the cost of living and help them reduce their emissions, including the existing FBT exemption on electric vehicles,” Mr Martin said.
“We stand ready to work constructively with Ms Ley and her new leadership team in order to provide support as needed as the Coalition re-considers the views of working Australians in re-shaping its future policy direction.
“We also extend our congratulations to Ted O’Brien who was appointed to the position of Deputy Leader of the Party”.
