CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS GAIN NEW PATHWAY TO THE BOARD ROOM

JOINT RELEASE 2 mins read

Chartered Accountants ANZ (CA ANZ) is excited to announce a new partnership with the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), supporting Chartered Accountants into the board room.

CEO Ainslie van Onselen said from June this year, CA ANZ members will have access to the Company Directors CourseTM (CDC) at a discounted rate as well as the benefits of a complimentary 12-month AICD membership.

“This partnership between CA ANZ and AICD will bring down the cost for our members and make this prestigious post-nominal more accessible to Chartered Accountants,” said Ms van Onselen.

"It’s a pivotal development for CA ANZ members aspiring to board positions or executive leadership roles.

“Chartered Accountants bring unmatched financial expertise, strategic insight, and a commitment to ethical standards, enhancing governance and driving value creation, so I’m thrilled this partnership will open the door to more of our members gaining this additional, crucial credential.

“It will set them apart from the competition and signal to businesses, and the market, that Chartered Accountants have the training, knowledge and competence to be effective board directors.”

Mark Rigotti, Managing Director and CEO of AICD said the Company Directors CourseTM would be delivered through an accounting lens, including AICD facilitators who are Chartered Accountants.

“This partnership brings together two of Australia’s most respected professional bodies, creating a clear and accessible pathway from technical excellence to boardroom influence. It’s a win for good governance.”

The Company Directors CourseTM enhances governance skills, leadership capabilities, and will support Chartered Accountants on their pathway to the board.

In a complex and fast-moving environment, directors need to bring more than just expertise - they need sound judgment, confidence and a clear understanding of their duties. That’s exactly what the Company Directors Course delivers,” said Mr Rigotti.

“We’re always looking for ways to expand the education and training we offer CA ANZ members. This partnership underscores our commitment to professional growth, particularly where the training aligns with best governance practices,” Simon Hann, CA ANZ Group Executive Education & Marketing.

“It gives Chartered Accountants an important opportunity to strengthen their governance knowledge, refine their leadership skills and earn a prestigious qualification, at a more affordable price,” said Mr Hann.

"CA ANZ acknowledges the expertise of other professional associations and solution providers,” said Ms van Onselen.

“Through strategic alliances such as this one with AICD, we can support CA ANZ members in their desire to upskill, while empowering them to take their careers to the next level.

The partnership took effect from June 2025 with the AICD Course taking place at CA ANZ offices around the country as follows:

Brisbane:  November 2025.

Sydney:  March 2026.

Melbourne: March 2026.
