Mark Degotardi to lead Australian Community Housing

Australian Community Housing < 1 mins read

Australian Community Housing (ACH) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Degotardi as its inaugural Chief Executive Officer.

Mark brings three decades of strong experience across community housing, financial services and government, including six transformative years as CEO of the Community Housing Industry Association NSW.

"Mark is the right person to lead Australian Community Housing as we respond to the toughest housing challenge in memory," said Rebecca Oelkers, ACH Chair. "Mark is a powerful advocate, proven problem solver and first-class policy mind. His proven track record of building strong, values-driven organisations and his deep understanding of the community housing landscape make him the perfect fit for this pivotal role."

During his tenure as CEO of CHIA NSW, Mark transformed the organisation, as it drove significant policy wins and improved outcomes for community housing providers and their tenants across NSW. Mark was a vocal and impactful voice, successfully arguing for a multi-billion dollar expansion of social and affordable housing. He also persuasively made the case for much needed planning reform.

Degotardi said he relished the challenge of leading ACH.

"Community housing has an enormous role to play in confronting the housing crisis and I'm excited to join ACH and help drive the response," Degotardi said. "As a new organisation, ACH has incredible potential to meet the moment and provide the strong, unified voice we need for community housing providers and their tenants."

Beyond his industry experience, Mark has served as Treasurer and Director of NSW Council of Social Services (NCOSS) and as a Director on the World Council of Credit Unions board. His background spans policy development, media relations, and complex stakeholder management across government, community, and commercial sectors.
