Mercure Kangaroo Island Lodge will open its newest addition, the Mercure Kangaroo Island Luxury Villas, in December 2025.

These eight villas, to be managed by 1834 Hotels alongside the longstanding 38-room hotel, have been carefully designed for serenity and seclusion, placing guests right in the heart of Kangaroo Islands wild beauty.

Featuring large double-glazed windows that frame the tranquil waters of Eastern Cove and American River, each villa invites guests to unwind in comfort and reconnect with nature.

"Its exciting to see this new chapter unfold at Mercure Kangaroo Island Lodge,” said Andrew Bullock, CEO of 1834 Hotels.

“The addition of these eight luxury villas introduces a new level of comfort and design to American River, offering an elevated accommodation experience that sits gently within the island's natural environment.”

Featuring a plush king-sized bed, contemporary living area and private deck, the villas offer a peaceful retreat from the everyday.

Each has been designed with thoughtful touches, and curated furnishings create a warm, welcoming atmosphere that feels both indulgent as well as grounded in its surroundings.

And unlike most private villas on Kangaroo Island, guests will feel a sense of seclusion as well as receive access to the hotels full suite of services.

Those staying will enjoy the hotel’s full offering; from the cosy bar and regionally inspired Reflections Restaurant, to the unique saltwater pool with views across Eastern Cove.

“With Kangaroo Island's unrivalled appeal, the upcoming The Cliffs Golf Course and the new Sealink ferries opening up even more options to access the island, the timing is perfect to introduce a product like this that speaks to both indulgence and immersion,” Bullock continues.

Centrally located between Kingscote and Penneshaw, American River combines a sense of retreat with easy access to Kangaroo Island’s key attractions.

The luxury villas are now available for booking. For more information or to book, visit www.kilodge.com.au.
