Sedgman, a member of the CIMIC Group and the cornerstone of ACS Group’s global critical minerals platform, has acquired Arizona-based engineering consultancy FSI Engineering and Design, expanding its North American footprint and advancing its strategic growth in the minerals processing sector.
The acquisition marks an important step in ACS Group’s strategy to build an integrated presence across the critical minerals value chain – from investment and extraction to processing and infrastructure delivery. It strengthens Sedgman’s ability to deliver end-to-end engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) services in the United States, a region experiencing rapid growth in demand for clean energy and strategic materials.
Sedgman has more than 45 years of global experience in mineral processing, with more than 630 studies and projects delivered across critical minerals and precious metals including lithium, copper, nickel, vanadium, rare earths and other strategic commodities. The addition of FSI Engineering and Design – renowned for its multidiscipline EPCM capabilities in operations and capital projects – enhances Sedgman’s U.S. delivery capacity, where it has operated for 25 years, and complements its Canadian engineering capabilities.
The combined entity, operating as Sedgman FSI, will support clients across North America with scalable talent and deep technical expertise in critical and precious minerals, alongside services in the energy and industrial chemicals sectors. This move aligns with ACS Group’s strategy to expand in high-growth, policy-supported markets and deliver low-risk, high-margin engineering-led services.
ACS Group and HOCHTIEF Chief Executive Officer and CIMIC Group Executive Chairman Juan Santamaría said:
“Sedgman’s acquisition of FSI Engineering and Design is a strategic enabler of our Group’s engineering-led critical minerals expansion. It unlocks new capabilities and geographic reach, reinforcing our commitment to delivering sustainable infrastructure solutions that support the global energy transition, advanced manufacturing, and digital infrastructure.”
Sedgman Managing Director Grant Fraser said:
“This acquisition strengthens our North American growth trajectory and enhances our specialist technical capabilities in multidiscipline engineering, procurement, and construction management services for operations and maintenance, sustaining capital and greenfield capital projects. It reflects our commitment to supporting clients in the delivery of resilient, scalable and sustainable critical minerals projects, with the ability to deliver locally leveraging global expertise.”
Sedgman and FSI will undergo a transition process focused on continuity of service and integration of systems and teams.
