Daniel Morcombe Foundation and Murphy Group are Raising the Roof for Child Safety.
This morning the Daniel Morcombe Foundation and Murphy Group are hosting a special Build it for the Kids Supporter Breakfast to thank the many local trades and suppliers who have generously donated their time and products to help Keep Kids Safe on the Sunshine Coast.
The site is cut, the slab is down, the wall frames have been erected the roof is about to be raised on the Build it for the Kids home, all thanks to these local tradies and businesses. The response to the project has been overwhelming so the Foundation and Murphy Group wanted to express their gratitude to those who have already been working tirelessly on this home.
There is still plenty of opportunities to get involved. Right now we need plasterers, carpenters, tilers, driveway concreters, solar and silicone installers as well as driveway steel and concrete, solar, carpet, vinyl, appliances and a clothesline.
If you are not a tradesperson or supplier and would like to contribute there is an option to donate to the project. These funds will be used to cover expenses not covered by trades and suppliers’ donations.
The Daniel Morcombe Foundation and Murphy Group teamed up, once again to Build it for the Kids. The home is being built in The Enclave, in Maleny on the Sunshine Coast with support from over 90 trades and suppliers. The home will go to auction around the middle of this year, with 100% of profits from the sale directed to the Daniel Morcombe Foundation to support child safety education, advocacy, and young victims of crime in the Sunshine Coast Community.
Bruce Morcombe said,
“I thank you all for making this project grow legs – my wish has been granted. The project is going strong and I am very appreciative of all the supporters who have already contributed to this amazing home. There is still more to do. If you have anything to offer, please we would still love to hear from you. Your donations help us build a safer future for kids.”
Denise Morcombe added,
“Thank you all for helping with our Build it for the Kids project. We are all in this together and when you get involved, you're directly contributing to help Keep Kids Safe on the Sunshine Coast.
Mark Berry, Director of Murphy Group, noted,
“We thank all of the tradies who have been involved so far - the architects, surveyors, environmentalists, excavators, plumbers, electricians, concreters and carpenters. The slab is down, the wall frames erected, the roofing will be completed very shortly we thank the roofers who are ready to go. We have painters, paint suppliers, cabinet makers waiting their turn we still require plasterers, carpenters, tilers, driveway concreters. Every contribution, big or small, matters.”
Brooke Bastien, Director of Murphy Group, said,
“We are excited to be at this stage of the project. It feels like erecting the frames and roofing of this home is like providing shelter and security to families in need and this is why we undertook this project. We are still looking for more supporters. Help us raise the roof for a family in need.”
The Daniel Morcombe Foundation, established by Bruce and Denise Morcombe in honour of their son Daniel, has spent over two decades working to keep kids safe through education programs, awareness campaigns, and community support initiatives.
Murphy Builders, a long-standing local construction company with a strong community focus, is proud to once again support this important cause. The first Build It For The Kids project in 2020 raised significant funds for the Foundation, and this second collaboration promises to deliver even greater impact.
Businesses and individuals interested in contributing to the Build It For The Kids project are encouraged to submit an Expression of Interest or Donation through the Daniel Morcombe Foundation website:
