SOUTH WEST SYDNEY WELCOMES NEW $12 MILLION AQUATIC LANDMARK TO HELP BUILD LIFELONG WATER SAFETY SKILLS

UR Digital Pty Ltd 2 mins read

As South West Sydney continues to welcome thousands of new residents, Aquabliss Willowdale has officially opened its doors, bringing a purpose-built $12 million community aquatic facility with a vision to help families develop lifelong swimming skills.

The centre has been created as a long-term community asset where babies can experience their first splash, children can build lifelong water skills, adults can learn to swim and aspiring athletes can progress towards competitive swimming.

The opening comes as South West Sydney undergoes one of the country's fastest periods of population growth with around 99,000 children under the age of 15 already living in the area and the broader population expected to increase by more than 50% over the next two decades.

As communities expand, so too does the need for infrastructure that supports healthy, active and connected lives.

Aquabliss is providing communities with opportunities not only to learn essential water safety skills, but also to improve physical health, mental wellbeing and social connection throughout life.

Aquabliss Managing Director Nitin Singhi said the vision for Willowdale was always much bigger than opening another swim school.

"Communities aren't built by houses alone," Mr Singhi said. "They're built by the places where people come together, where children grow and learn, where families spend time together and where lifelong healthy habits begin.

"When we chose Willowdale, we saw a growing community full of young families that deserved infrastructure designed not just for today, but for decades to come.

“Our hope is that the babies who take their first lessons here today will grow up with a lifelong love of the water, the skills to stay safe, and one day watch their own children take those same first strokes. That's the kind of lasting community legacy we're proud to create.''

The facility has a dual-pool design which includes an 18-metre learn-to-swim pool and a six-lane 25-metre pool that accommodates everyone from beginners to squad swimmers.

Aleena Johnston, Aquabliss Southern Area Manager said facilities that support long-term participation play an important role in creating safer and healthier communities.

"Every confident swimmer starts exactly the same way—with a first lesson," she said.

"But reaching one milestone does not automatically make a capable swimmer. One must continue to build confidence, technique, endurance, and good decision-making over time.

"Facilities like this allow children to progress naturally as they grow, while also giving adults opportunities to learn new skills, stay active and enjoy swimming throughout life.”
