Three Million Chairs, Two Decades of Feedback

SIDIZ Australia 3 mins read
Key Facts:
  • Roy Morgan data shows 6.7 million Australians now work from home, while the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare ranks back pain as the country's third-largest disease burden, affecting around four million people.
  • SIDIZ, South Korea's leading chair brand, has sold over three million units of its T50 chair since 2007, with two decades of customer feedback revealing three recurring issues: an off-centre lumbar pad, a headrest that loses contact during deep reclines, and armrests that many taller users found too low.
  • The T50 2nd Gen directly addresses these issues with a lumbar pad 1.5 times wider, an enlarged 310-millimetre mesh headrest, armrests raised by 25 millimetres, and a recline that now locks at five points between 105 and 130 degrees.
  • A 2024 Australian Chiropractors Association survey found 86.7 per cent of Australian workers had experienced a work-related musculoskeletal symptom, while a 2025 JAMA Network Open study estimated long-term back problems could cost working-age Australians $638 billion in lost GDP between 2024 and 2033.
  • SIDIZ Australia is now accepting pre-orders for the T50 2nd Gen through sidiz.au, with pre-orders closing on 10 October and dispatch commencing in November.

Sydney, NSW (24 September 2026) - Australians working from home now number 6.7 million, according to Roy Morgan's July 2024 to June 2025 report. The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare ranks back pain as the country's third-largest disease burden. It affects roughly four million people. Most of that time happens in a chair that is not suitable for seating for hours a day.

SIDIZ, the number one chair brand in Korea, has sold more than three million units of its T50 chair since 2007. That makes the T50 one of Korea's best-selling office chairs, according to a Korea Times report on its newest update. Twenty years of sales builds a long record of returns, warranty claims, and support calls. That feedback gives SIDIZ a long-term view of how people use the chair and where the design can be improved.

The Same Three Complaints, Year After Year

SIDIZ R&D Lab found this problem repeatedly. Owners' lower backs often sat off to one side of the original lumbar pad, not centred on it. The headrest held contact during a light recline. But it lost contact the moment someone leaned back further, right when neck support matters most. Taller owners kept raising the armrests to the highest setting. Many still found them a little low.

“None of these are big complaints on their own,” said Alex Han, spokesperson for SIDIZ Australia. “But when the same three things come up for twenty years, across three million chairs, they stop being small problems. They become the design brief.”

The T50 2nd Gen's widened Ergofit lumbar pad and 310mm mesh headrest, two of the changes SIDIZ made after two decades of owner feedback.

What the Redesign Actually Fixes

The T50 2nd Gen fixes each problem directly. It is not a general refresh.

  • The Ergofit lumbar pad is now 1.5 times wider. It reaches the owners the old pad missed.

  • The mesh headrest has grown to 310 millimetres. It now holds contact through a full recline.

  • The armrests sit 25 millimetres higher. Recline now locks at five points between 105 and 130 degrees.

People make small adjustments without ever reporting them. Enough of those adjustments become a pattern. SIDIZ improved its design further around that pattern.

Why a Korean Fix Applies to an Australian Problem

A 2024 national survey commissioned by the Australian Chiropractors Association, conducted among 1,001 respondents, found that 86.7 percent of Australian workers had felt a work-related musculoskeletal symptom. A 2025 JAMA Network Open modelling study by Docking and colleagues estimated that long-term back problems could cost working-age Australians $638 billion in lost GDP between 2024 and 2033. A chair that quietly fails someone's lower back is a small problem for one person. At that scale, it becomes a much bigger one.

SIDIZ Australia is bringing the T50 2nd Gen to Australian consumers, giving them access to a redesigned chair shaped by user feedback. “We didn't have to guess what to prioritise,” Han said. “The feedback already told us. Our job was building it back into the chair properly.”

SIDIZ Australia opens pre-orders for the T50 2nd Gen now and pre-orders close 10 October. Dispatch begins in November. Buyers can order through sidiz.au
