Vasey RSL Care to Develop New Aged Care Facility in Frankston

Vasey RSL Care 3 mins read

Vasey RSL Care has acquired a site on Cranbourne Road in Frankston, with plans to transform the property into a contemporary residential aged care facility to meet growing demand for care across Melbourne’s south-east.

The site is currently operating as a rehabilitation hospital under St John of God Health Care, with operations scheduled to cease on 23 October 2026.

Vasey RSL Care will take ownership of the site on 16 November 2026, with planning and refurbishment works to follow in 2027.

The new facility will build on Vasey RSL Care’s longstanding presence in the Frankston region and its commitment to providing quality accommodation, care and support to veterans, their families and the broader community.

Frankston City Council projections indicate that people aged 60 and over will account for 24 per cent of the city’s population by the end of 2026, compared with 21 per cent across Greater Melbourne.

Vasey RSL Care Chief Executive Officer Janna Voloshin said the new facility would help meet the community’s growing need for residential aged care.

“We recognise the growing need for residential aged care and want to ensure more people can access quality care close to their family, friends and support networks.

“This new facility is an important investment in Frankston’s future and will help us continue supporting older Australians for years to come.”

The Frankston and Mornington Peninsula region is also home to a significant veteran community with The Mornington Peninsula Shire having the highest number of veterans of any local government area in Victoria.

“Supporting veterans and their families remains central to our mission, and we are proud of our long-standing connection to this community,” Ms Voloshin said.

“We look forward to expanding aged care options for local people while continuing to support veterans and their families.”

The Cranbourne Road project complements Vasey RSL Care’s broader plans for the region, including its separate Frankston South Integrated Living Development, which is designed to deliver a diverse range of housing and care options within one connected community.

The Frankston South Integrated Living Development will deliver 494 homes, including 80 residential aged care rooms, 52 assisted living apartments and 362 retirement living and affordable homes. It will also include upgraded ex-service accommodation comprising apartments, units and townhouses.

The integrated model is designed to support residents through different stages of life, allowing them to access suitable accommodation and care as their needs change while remaining connected to their community.

Vasey RSL Care has lodged an Expression of Interest for funding through Round 3 of the Housing Australia Future Fund to support the Frankston South development and is awaiting an outcome.

Together, the two projects reflect Vasey RSL Care’s ongoing commitment to expanding accommodation and care options across Frankston and the surrounding region, with the Cranbourne Road site providing an additional opportunity to meet demand for residential aged care.

“We are pleased to be investing in Frankston and look forward to sharing more details about the new aged care facility as planning progresses,” Ms Voloshin said.
