ESSSuper 2 mins read

The Board President of ESSSuper, Pam Rebecca, has announced the appointment of Moana Weir as the new Chief Executive Officer of ESSSuper. Ms Weir has been acting in the position since the departure of Robbie Campo on 21 August.

Ms Rebecca said Ms Weir was a standout candidate from a highly competitive recruitment field.

“Moana’s skills, experience and leadership are exactly what we were looking for to take our organisation forward.

“We are on an ambitious transformation journey, and Moana brings extensive experience in transformation across multiple roles in a number of industries including financial services for members, as well as experience working in technology companies. Those experiences are vital as we deliver large-scale projects underpinning our enhancement of retirement outcomes for our members. Since taking on the Acting CEO position, Moana has overseen a successful platform transition working together with our external administrator and its technology provider.

“She is an open, collaborative and transparent leader, a highly effective communicator and is a great fit for our organisational culture.

“We are thrilled to continue to have Moana leading ESSSuper through the exciting period ahead.”

Prior to acting in the role Moana was ESSSuper’s Group Executive, Legal, Governance, Risk and Compliance. Ms Weir brings organisational knowledge, excellent leadership skills and strong stakeholder relationships, as well as vast experience gained throughout a career spanning two decades in executive roles across the public and private sectors.

Ms Weir said she is looking forward to leading an organisation dedicated to supporting a dignified and secure retirement for Victoria’s most critical workers, into its next phase.

“At ESSSuper, we have a special purpose to provide excellent retirement outcomes for our members who have dedicated their lives to providing essential services to our community, including police officers, firefighters, paramedics, teachers and support workers. We consider this to be a great privilege.”

The new analysis by the Super Members Council finds affected teen workers in Queensland will miss out on an average of $870 in super in 2026-27, adding up to $108 million in unpaid super across the state. The Council’s CEO Misha Schubert said super should be paid from the first hour of your first job. “Teen workers in…
