Ethical Clothing Australia Week 2023 – Celebrating local businesses commitment to protecting workers’ rights

Running from 9th – 15th October 2023, Ethical Clothing Australia (ECA) Week is a nation-wide celebration of ethical manufacturing in the textile, clothing and footwear (TCF) industry in Australia.

ECA Week is an opportunity for the public to champion Australian businesses who have gone beyond just stating their operations are ethical and have taken action to certify they are ethical by achieving accreditation through Ethical Clothing Australia rigorous accreditation program.  Above all, ECA Week is an opportunity to celebrate, recognise and acknowledge the 489,000 skilled workers in Australia, of which more than 77% are female, who create and distribute the garments we love and wear.

ECA Week 2023 will be a hybrid program with both digital and in-person events.  There is an opportunity to go behind the scenes with local manufacturers and brands Denimsmith, Vince Clothing, Melco Fabrics, Next State Printers, Remuse and Knovus Knitwear.

The digital program includes The Social Studio, Cue, Anthea Crawford, Arnsdorf, Clothing the Gaps, Humphrey Law, Bushy Underwear, Perri Cutten, Flat Iron the Label, Pearl Button Bridal and The Ark Clothing Company.

ECA will be sharing this content across their social media channels, which can be found @ethicalclothingaustralia

The full ECA Week program and how you can be involved is available here www.ethicalclothingaustralia.org.au/eca-week-2023/

ECA Week 2023 kicks of with an exclusive event with the Hon. Ben Carroll, Victorian Minister for Industry and Innovation and Sovereign Manufacturing on the 9th October 2023 in Melbourne. Key speaker for the night will be Perri Cutten Head Designer and Creative Director, Penelope Loorham. An event will also be held in Sydney on the 12th of October. Speakers include Citizen Wolf Co-Founder Eric Phu and PR and Communications Manager for Cue, Tara Allen.

We are excited to bring ECA Week 2023 to the Australian public for the third year running. We are so proud of the commitment ECA-Accredited brands and manufacturers make to producing locally, and to protecting and upholding the rights of their workers throughout their entire local supply chain. At ECA, we want the Australian public to also know about their commitment, and for the public to champion these businesses by buying locally and ethically.

This year ECA has proudly partnered with Peppermint Magazine as their official media partner.
