Arizona Lithium (ASX: AZL) – Pilot Plant Update at Prairie

Arizona Lithium Limited (ASX: AZL) 2 mins read

Arizona Lithium Limited (ASX: AZL, AZLOA, OTC: AZLAF), a leader in sustainable lithium development, is excited to announce significant progress at its Prairie Lithium Project in Saskatchewan, Canada. The Company has reached a pivotal milestone in its journey towards commercialization of lithium resources.

Completion of Pilot Plant Testing: The Prairie Lithium Project has successfully completed the third and final phase of pilot plant testing, utilizing innovative Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) technology. This marks a crucial step in evaluating and refining the extraction process.

First Shipments of Lithium Concentrate: Arizona Lithium has achieved another significant milestone with the dispatch of the first two shipments, totaling approximately 2,500 liters, of lithium concentrate. These shipments have been sent to the Lithium Research Center (LRC) in Tempe, Arizona, for further processing into high purity lithium end products, including lithium carbonate.

Preparation for Commercial Facility: The Company has finalized the location for its first commercial facility. Ground preparation for the well pad is complete, and the first well license has been approved. This development paves the way for Arizona Lithium to transition smoothly from pilot operations to commercial production through the drilling of initial wells.

Prairie Pilot Plant Video Release: Arizona Lithium invites stakeholders and interested parties to view a video showcasing the Prairie Pilot Plant’s brine processing capabilities. The video is available at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plkX0vqIYYE.

Ongoing Developments: To date, over 42,000 liters of raw brine have been processed at the Prairie project, resulting in the production of approximately 2,500 liters of lithium concentrate. The Company is committed to continuing its testing of various operational parameters and conditions to finalize the design of a commercial extraction facility.

Arizona Lithium Managing Director, Paul Lloyd, commented: “Having recently visited the pilot plant operations in Saskatchewan, I am confident in our team’s ability to continue to execute the required operations over the coming months. Everyone is working very hard to ensure that we can quickly translate that information into commercial design as we continue to push towards commercial production in 2025.”

Arizona Lithium Chief Technology Officer, Brett Rabe, commented: “This pilot plant testing campaign is the final step before purchasing long-lead items for the inaugural well pads. We are executing our project development plan quickly and efficiently with commencement of well pad civil works, well license approval, and completion of the PFS taking place before the end of 2023. Saskatchewan is truly an outstanding jurisdiction for lithium project development and we are excited to share pilot plant DLE performance details in the coming weeks. We also look forward to updating the market with our project execution plan for what may be the first new producing lithium project in North America in a very long time.”
