Macquarie Park Order no threat to residents

Building Commission NSW < 1 mins read

A Building Work Rectification Order issued by the Building Commission NSW to a Macquarie Park apartment block poses no danger to the residents of that building.

The Order, issued on the 15 January 2024 to the 23 Halifax Street developer, relates to the long-term durability of the basement levels of the building, not to any units within the complex. The issue is not structural.

The Building Commission and Greenland Lachlan’s Line Macquarie Park Development Pty Ltd have been in regular contact about the defect since August 2023, when the first inspection was conducted.

The Building Commission will continue to work with the developer to ensure compliance with the Order.

Quotes to be attributed to David Chandler, NSW Building Commissioner

“The Building Commission NSW is working hard to rebuild trust and capability in the construction sector. I’m very confident that the industry is getting it. Either build it right or there will be consequences.”
