Slater and Gordon named among Diversity Council Australia’s 2024-2025 Inclusive Employers

Slater and Gordon have been named an Inclusive Employer by The Diversity Council of Australia (DCA) for 2024-2025.

 

The DCA’s Inclusive Employer Index is an annual survey developed by DCA in partnership with Diversity Atlas to measure employee diversity and inclusion experiences in the workplace.

 

The Index enables an organisation to evaluate the current state of inclusion in its workforce and compare it to the Australian Workforce and DCA member benchmarks.

 

The Index showed that Slater and Gordon are above average in the numbers of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, carers, people with a disability and LGBTIQ+ people working at the firm, compared to the wider Australian workforce.

 

Of those surveyed, Slater and Gordon’s results showed employees represent 24 countries, speak 27 languages, observe 24 religions, and come from 41 cultural backgrounds.

 

With the majority of the Executive and Leadership teams being women, Slater and Gordon CEO Dina Tutungi said diversity and inclusion are fundamentally important to the firm.

 

“At Slater and Gordon, we have a deep connection to the communities in which we live and work, and to which we and our clients belong.

 

“It is important as an organisation founded on social justice and committed to access to justice, that we look beyond our own front door, and continue to champion and embrace diversity and inclusion in our wider community.

 

“We have a responsibility to advocate for greater access to justice for everyone in our diverse community.

 

“Ensuring that our people come from all walks of life only strengthens the work we do.

 

“Initiatives like the Slater and Gordon Diversity and Inclusion committee, now in its fourth year, have helped us to continue to ensure that diversity and inclusion is never an afterthought” Ms Tutungi said.

 

Comprised of Slater and Gordon people across the country who meet monthly, the Diversity and Inclusion Committee champions new initiatives at the firm that continue to create a more inclusive space for their coworkers and clients.

 

“It’s one thing to have a diverse workforce, but to foster inclusivity and make sure it’s a safe and inclusive place for everyone is another,” Ms Tutungi said.

 

“We know there is always more to do, and diversity and inclusion is an ongoing process where we can always learn and improve from our team members, clients and community partners.

 

“And we are pleased that being named an Inclusive Employer demonstrates we are on the right track,” Ms Tutungi said.
