The 2024 STEPS Autism Treehouse Christmas Party is set for this Sunday 8 December from 9am – 2pm at the Kawana Sports Precinct.
Despite poor weather impacting the original date, STEPS is committed to delivering the annual family-focused and inclusive Christmas celebration to the Sunshine Coast community.
STEPS Managing Director Carmel Crouch said the STEPS team was determined to ensure the local community, especially families with children with a disability and autism, could attend the iconic event once again.
“We are resolute in our commitment to do everything in our power to hold our annual STEPS Autism Treehouse Christmas Party. Local families who have children with a disability and autism often can’t attend other events and look forward to this party since it’s the one time each year that they are able to relax knowing their children are safe and happy,” she said.
“The rain and postponement of the initial date for the event has not dampened our spirits. In fact, it has strengthened our resolve to provide local families with the event they deserve and the smiles on the children’s faces on the day will make it all worthwhile.”
Everyone is welcome to attend the STEPS Autism Treehouse Christmas Party and can expect rides, water slides, a petting zoo, a rock-climbing wall, a chance to meet and have their photo taken with Santa, and more fun activities, along with food available to fuel up for an exciting day.
Inclusive features at the event include an enclosed area for safety and peace-of-mind, limited entry and exit points, supportive and friendly volunteers to assist families, shade and seating, and quiet zones.
Ms Crouch says that she is grateful for the outpouring of support from the STEPS team, volunteers, sponsors — including major sponsor The Fleet Office — and members of the community who all contribute to making the day so special.
