Celebrated Panman Alvin Rostant to Launch Inspiring Memoir at Special Event

The Audacious Agency 2 mins read

On May 4 at Logan Art Gallery, at 2pm, one of the world's most revered steelpan players is releasing his much-anticipated memoir, a compelling narrative chronicling his journey from a young, awe-inspired steel drummer to a globally celebrated composer and performer.

The memoir, titled "Carnival Is Me" delves into Alvin’s extraordinary life story, starting from the pivotal moment at age 14 when he first laid his hands on a steel drum. His passion for the instrument transformed his life, leading him to win major awards and tour internationally. Alvin’s narrative goes beyond music, sharing his studies in architecture and woodwork and his groundbreaking performances at Expo 88 and Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony in 2018.

"My life has been a symphony of experiences, from the echo of the steel pan in small venues to the grand stages of international festivals," says Alvin. "This book is not just my story; it's an homage to the art that shaped me and a guide for those who dare to dream big."

The launch event will feature a live performance by Alvin, providing attendees with a unique blend of narrative and music. Guests will also have the opportunity to hear from Alvin directly during a Q&A session, exploring deeper into the themes of dedication, creativity, and cultural influence as discussed in his book.

The memoir is not just a personal recount of a musician’s life, but also takes the reader on a journey through Alvin's career, the hurdles he has had to overcome, and the transformative power of music and the arts, and Alvin's commitment to passing on his knowledge and passion to the next generation of performers, both locally and internationally.

Copies of "Carnival Is Me " will be available for purchase at the event, and Alvin will sign books and interact with fans post-presentation.
