RAPID RELIEF TEAM COMPLETES SERVICE TO VOLUNTEERS AND VICTIMS OF WAIROA FLOODS
The Plymouth Brethren Christian Church’s Rapid Relief Team (RRT) has now completed its extensive support for local Civil Defence and volunteers cleaning up after the Wairoa floods.
RRT volunteers served hundreds of burgers, sandwiches and water bottles in Napier and Gisborne, as communities rallied around 100 households displaced by the floods.
The charitable arm of the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church also donated two pallets of Food Boxes to the Wairoa District Council to be distributed to those affected by the flooding.
RRT Local Team Leader, Clarke Judd, said it was great to support the volunteers assisting with massive clean-up efforts.
“The Rapid Relief Team was very pleased to support the families who have lost their homes, as well as the hardworking volunteers,” Clarke said.
“The hours, days and weeks following the Wairoa floods have been stressful as people assess damage and face the monumental task of cleaning up both inside and outside.
“Providing food and water in the area allows people to refuel and recharge to get through one of the toughest times of their lives.
“Our Rapid Relief Team has an army of volunteers who are always ready to mobilise during a crisis.
“It’s about bringing hope to those who have been left devastated and showing some appreciation to volunteers.”
The Rapid Relief Team is the charitable arm of the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church.
Established in 2013, the RRT has more than 14,500 volunteers around the world who provide support to the community through charitable donations and events, as well as assisting emergency services in times of disaster and crisis by providing meals and other support.
