Penrith, July 30 at 7:15pm - This International Anti-Human Trafficking Day, join us for a poignant evening of cinema and advocacy at the screening of "Get Free" at Glenbrook Cinema. This compelling event invites audiences to engage with the gripping narrative of individuals who have triumphed over human trafficking, shedding light on this critical global issue.

"Get Free" isn't just a film; it's a powerful call to action," said Craig Giles, the visionary writer behind the project. "Our goal is to educate and empower communities to combat modern slavery and protect vulnerable individuals."

This thriller (dubbed the modern 'Taken') is inspired by real-life events and underscores the urgency of addressing human trafficking in Australia. Recent statistics reveal a staggering reality: in 2018, there were 4,300 slaves in Australia – by 2023, this number had risen to 41,000. Tragically, only 2% of those taken will ever escape. erasechildtrafficking.org

At the heart of "Get Free" is the masterful work of Penrith's own multi-award-winning Mason Grady, who served as both cinematographer and editor. Grady's creative vision and technical expertise brought a depth and authenticity to the film, capturing its compelling narrative with emotive precision.

In addition to the screening, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a special Q&A session with filmmakers and featured individuals from the film. This interactive discussion promises deeper insights into the making of the film and the stories that inspired it, including that of Ayesha, who was trafficked in Australia at the age of nine.

"We are honoured to present 'Get Free' on this significant day," added Sunil Bhandarkar "It's a chance for our community to come together, raise awareness, and advocate for change." Promoters from the Penrith area include Businesses and Churches from One Church Penrith.

Seats are limited so reserve your spot today to be part of an evening that promises to inspire, inform, and empower.
