Dementia set to become Australia’s leading cause of death, cementing need for investment in prevention

The latest data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) released today highlights the urgent reality of dementia in Australia, revealing dementia is set to become the nation’s leading cause of death. In 2023, dementia accounted for 9.1 per cent of all deaths, closely following ischaemic heart disease at 9.2 per cent. Friday, 11 October 2024 The Gas Appliance Manufacturers Association of Australia (GAMAA) today welcomed a major milestone in the development of renewable hydrogen supply as construction started on the $65.46 million Hydrogen Park Murray Valley near Wodonga. Workers at Graincorp vote on industrial action

Grain handlers at Graincorp sites across NSW will vote on whether to take industrial action after negotiations broke down with the company, said the union which represents the workers. New research from the Monash Business School has found that throughout the job recruitment process women believe artificial intelligence assessments reduce bias, while men fear it removes an advantage.
