The NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) is investigating potential pesticide misuse in Corowa after samples taken from local hives and deceased bees tested positive to pesticides. On 12 March 2025, local beekeepers alerted the EPA to an unusually high number of dead bees across at least three different hive locations. The EPA promptly collected samples, which have now tested positive for fipronil—a chemical commonly used in agriculture and pest control.
