If you had $10,000 right now, where would you invest it?

Money magazine 4 mins read

The key to successful investing begins with understanding your appetite for risk. Some investment vehicles (ETFs and term deposits) are set and forget; others, like equities, require fortitude to remain steady when faced with significant ups and downs as well as knowing the right triggers to buy and sell. Still others need significant time to comprehend. Welcome to crypto. In the November issue of Money, we’ve covered all the investing options that our audience would consider should they have $10,000 to invest. But more than this - and considering the squeeze that many people are experiencing - we’ve also approached our cover story as an educational piece for when the time is right.

While the outlook for global growth is pessimistic, stock markets are ignoring the big issues. How this contradiction will be resolved remains a big challenge for investors. Aman Ramrakha, director of research at Rainmaker Information, analyses the state of play for investors, explaining that while a soft-landing scenario would appear to be the best outcome, the potential for turbulence exists.

Joining Aman is a team of diverse investment experts who reveal where they’d put their money right now, including:

  • Michelle Singer, property communications consultant
  • Karl Mohan, general manager for APAC and MEA, crypto.com
  • Michelle Baltazar, editor-in-chief, Money
  • Jessica Amir, market strategist, moomoo
  • Zach Riaz, investment manager and director, Banyantree Investment Group
  • Pooja Antil, research director, Rainmaker Information
  • David Bassanese, chief economist, betashares
  • Grady Wulff, market analyst, Bell Direct

The November issue also features:

The other game of CHESS: What went wrong at the ASX

When investors trade equities, most don’t give a second thought to CHESS - the system behind the scenes managing and recording the exchange between buyers and sellers. First introduced in 1998, we explain how the upgrade of this system turned into a $250 million nightmare for the ASX.

Can’t afford private? Options for a top education

A good education can form the foundation of a rewarding life. But it doesn’t mean families have to sacrifice their financial wellbeing. With some creative thinking, we share how parents can give their children a great education – in or out of the public system.

Made redundant? Here’s what to do next

Losing a job may seem like the end of the world, but it can be an opportunity to refresh a career and even a lifestyle. We share age-based strategies for finding a new job and explain why it’s important to learn new skills and not burn any bridges.
