“There’s a chance Victorians will see some great auroras over the coming nights. There has been a series of coronal mass ejections from the Sun, and as the ejected charged particles sweep by the Earth we could get lovely auroral displays.
“While we may not get a repeat of May’s spectacular auroras, which were the best seen for decades, it is still well worth taking a look.
“The best places to see auroras are away from city and town lights, with clear dark views to the southern horizon.
“Aurora watching on social media may also be a good way of finding out if auroras are visible right now, and if you want to photograph auroras yourself then modern smartphones do a remarkably good job.”
